President Obama's message to the Chamber of Commerce is a failure

President Obama went before the Chamber of Commerce today and spoke about the same platform of failed ideas that he mentioned in his State of the Union Address.

In both cases, he emphasized education and infrastructure as the primary means to get American's working again. Unfortunately, American's don't have the money to pay for skyrocketing tuition costs, and the government doesn't have money in the budget for another worthless stimulus bill...

f there ever was an example of Geroge Orwell's 'newspeak', then todays meeting was a real life example. The President spoke on helping small businesses, but for two years he has allowed banks and corporations to borrow from the Federal Reserve at nearly no interest, but not small business...

President Obama sadly has nothing to offer to fix the economy and to stimulate jobs, and this meeting with the Chamber of Commerce today was simply the rhetoric of a community organizer. When you hire crooks into your cabinet like Timothy Geithner, William Daley, and Valerie Jarrett to formulate economic policy, you should not expect actual results, but instead you will see amateurs flayling at problems well above their pay grades.

After he and his henchmen fail to demonize the chamber(same attempt he made with FOX news, same failure), he has the brass balls to try and talk like a pro business pal.

If this man child were any more disingenuous I doubt he could keep a straight face when he rambles on like a fool.

Of course it was a failure. The business leaders care about profits more than they care about the country.

as do most of the folks here

The President successfully delivered his message to the Chamber.

"We need to out-innovate, out-educate and out-build our competitors," Obama told the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. "We need an economy that's based not on what we consume and borrow from other nations, but what we make and sell around the world."

Link

It's also a message that received a 91% approval rating when he delivered it in his State of the Union. So the only way this would be considered a "failure" is if the Chamber of Commerce ignores the necessity to grow our economy again.

At least Obama met with the Chamber. Maybe he realizes he needs to get rid of some of the trash in his admin. And start doing the things he needs to do to help small business especially...Waiting

Obama: Do this general thing, and that general thing, and a few other general things... hm...what? How do you do that? How the **** should I know? I'm the President. I never held a public sector job in my life.

yes... because the COC certainly controls the economy and could make it grow by just wishing it, right?

How the **** should I know? I'm the President. I never held a public sector job in my life.

He was a Senator. And prior to that, a State Senator. He's been in the public sector 1997.

Small businesses can borrow directly from the Small Business Administration. The Fed operates at a macro-level. It operates in stimulating aggregate supply and demand. There are other parts of the federal government that can get things going at the micro-level.

Small Business Jobs Act of 2010

The act passed more tax cuts, increased loan sizes to small businesses, and provided tax credits for business' start up costs. His only failure was not touting the work of the last Congress to get the economy going again.

Infrastructure is code for more government spending. The real answer...the only answer is to eliminate business taxes and resort to a simple sales tax.

"We need an economy that's based not on what we consume and borrow from other nations, but what we make and sell around the world."

That is an accurate statement, but where he will go wrong is he'll look at how the government can force it to happen rather than how can the government make it easier for it to happen.

Or maybe he's referring to the $2.2 trillion the American Society of Civil Engineers estimates it would take America to go from its present grade "D" infrastructure to an above-average "B"

The Scientific American

LOL...have you been to a foreign country? Even Canada? If you grade on a curve...America is an A++

His other failure was not actually getting the economy going again.

My jaw just dropped. I read your post a number of times just to make sure I wasn't going senile. Thank goodness I'm still ok.

Let's begin with the World Bank.

Connecting to Compete: Trade Logistics in the Global Economy

This is a report issued by the World Bank regarding nation's efficiency in facilitating international trade.

I don't know about you, but the United States should be better than every single nation on that list in such an index.

For specific stories, let's not forget about the 2007 bridge collapse in Minnesota.

I enjoyed this video.. If you have a few minutes, I'd really recommend watching it

The History Channel: America's Crumbling Infrastructure

We're just falling behind in infrastructure. It's unacceptable.

Thomas Jefferson: My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.

Thomas Jefferson: The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would .

according to the official Thomas Jefferson Historical Society at monticello.org, there is no known record of Thomas Jefferson ever have said or wriiten either of the statements that you employ in your signature line. neither appears anywhere in his known writings.

He never said these things. Both are fabrications by people who would want YOU to think that Jefferson thought the way that YOU have been taught to 'think'.

if you honestly have any respect for m. Jefferson you will remove the spuruious attributions.
