My only concern with the republican party is how ready and willing they are to sell laws and influence to big business. Big business has long needed to be banned from any involvement in politics. It's time for newer, stronger laws, which severely punish big business` that attempt to bribe their way to political influence. These laws must also punish the politicians involved in such a way that they will never even consider dealing with big business' again.
We simply cannot allow big business` to buy off politicians. Big business' MUST be banned from contributing to political parties & candidates` election funds. To make this new law complete and effective we must also severely limit privately donated funds by setting a maximum amount of money that can be donated.
Mayoral races should be limited to: $1,000
Gubernatorial races should be limited to: $5,000
Senate/House races should be limited to: $3,500
Presidential races should be limited to: $10,000
The aforementioned limitations will absolutely prevent big business interference in government on a number of levels. The overall effect of this system would be a huge cut in political corruption (like Halliburton and Dick Chaney). Moreover, it would make life better for the middle and lower classes of American society.
I realize republicans, and more then likely some democrats, will never willingly embrace such a law; however, it is a necessary step in the path to a less corrupt system of government.
