This is a thread for us to predict what we think will happen in the general election. The prediction thread is not what we want to happen - yet what we think will happen. Big difference. Chime in every one!

This will be interesting to look at after the general election.

I predict Hillary Clinton will win the General Election and do so by a landslide.

What are your predictions?

Clinton wins and the house and senate remain in republican control.

A bit early for predictions when they havent chosen VPs yet. I would say it will be very close as far as popular vote, Clinton wins big in EVs and 3rd party candidates get a combined 15% of the vote.

Hard to base a prediction 5 months out, considering the parties haven't even held their conventions and a lot of nasty stuff can still happen before the nominations are secured. And let's not forget, there's always the October surprise - last Presidential election, a little earlier than October, Hurricane Sandy gave President Obama a massive boost that Romney could not recover from.

Based on the above, and from what I've seen of the two presumptive candidates the past couple of weeks, unless Donald Trump somehow arranges a mind-meld with Spock, I unfortunately see Hillary Clinton as the next President perhaps by a greater margin than either of President Obama's wins.

Good idea for a thread.

Clinton by eight or more points over Trump. Libertarians kept under 2.
Senate changes hands to Democratic Party control with 52 seats.
House stays GOP but the margin of control is cut in half or more.

Gotta hedge. No indictment, Clinton barely beats Trump, both in upper 30 per cents. Indictment of Clinton, Sanders by 20% over Trump.

The economy is starting to crash, a lot depends upon how fast it happens, and there are a lot of other factors too so I am not ready to make a prediction.

I will go vote on local politicians only.............then go fishing for Stripers on the bay on November 8.

I could give a rats azz who wins the presidency.

This is what will definitely happen on November 8.

Hillary Clinton wins the Democratic nomination.
Donald Trump wins the Republican nomination.
Someone, maybe Jon Huntsman or someone like him, runs as an independent in a desperate effort to bring sanity to the process, thus splitting the Republican vote.
Bernie Sanders runs as an independent and splits the Democratic vote.

There are demonstrations, some of them violent.

Clinton is called every name from crook to socialist. She doesn't care, nor do her supporters.
Trump is called every name from nut job to racist. He doesn't care, nor do his supporters.
The right wing freaks out at the prospect of a Sanders victory.
The unnamed dark horse, who is actually a moderate Republican, wins the White House.

There. A prediction you can take to the bank. It's a great prediction, a wonderful prediction. You can count on it.

Took a minute to sort through that scenario..... my head hurts.

I wouldn't rule it out though.

Interesting that nobody, left or right, thinks we will be typing President Trump. I'm going to stick my neck out and say, as things are now, I think he'll pull it out. And I think he will do it in typical impressively flashy Trump form. I don't have a clue, not even a slight inkling, of who he will pick as his VP. But I think at the convention he will name somebody that will pretty well impress everybody as well as an idea of what a Trump cabinet will look like.

That prediction is good until say, Friday.

My prediction, trump barely wins, hillary pulls a mcain and chooses chef ramsey as her gimmick of a running mate to counter trumps
reality tv persona. Trump chooses a squirrel as vp and assures america a squirrel can not be worse than the choices for president. The squirrel will have a trump wig and be named mr nutters.

Hillary will give up politics and move on to a lobbying job for a corporation, trump will serve 8 years, but his hairpiece will be impeached on his second term.

Oh damn. You jinxed it. Trump is gonna win.

Donald Trump self-implodes prior to the election. Paul Ryan steps in.
Hillary Clinton limps out of the convention, but withdraws before November because of health issues. Joe Biden and Elizabeth Warren step in.
The Democrats take control of Congress and Presidency.

Calm

I wish.

I predict Hillary wins the nomination at the convention, but has to concede 40% of the party platform to Bernie's policy goals....thus uniting the party to go on for a landslide win in November. Or...it depends on the California primary whether Bernie will come out on top and take that win to the convention to convince Clinton delegates to switch their votes and win the nomination. It could happen.

I predict Trump's campaign will crumble from within because it already is...and he'll continue to Tweet and make an ass of himself and attack his own party in the general for not supporting him and finally convince even his most ardent supporters that he's not fit for office....so they'll either vote for the libertarian, or write in a name or stay home and not vote at all. And because Trump didn't fund raise for the party...the RNC won't have enough money to help state candidates in their races except in few crucial states and will likely loose the Senate.

So you think the House will be picking the President? With 4 strong candidates on the ticket that would probably assure that none got 51% of the electoral votes. The House could then choose anyone they wanted as President. Even someone who wasn't even a candidate in the election!

The above is nuttier than squirrel poop.

Trump will be our next President because the Democrats refuse to look at the history books...

I hadn't thought of that. Who might they pick? Probably not Clinton or Trump. Maybe Paul Ryan, if he even wants the job.

yes, he will. on tv. and prove to us that the 'small hands' presumption is bogus
that will cost him and the republicans the election
handing it to hillary, who gets censured - but not prosecuted - for her email debacle
Feingold will return to the senate, where he, Bernie, and Warren will head a majority and push an ever stronger liberal agenda
the house will remain GOP dominant
after tRump's public 'disclosure', leading to an obvious demo win, the senate/mitch 'the turtle' mcconnell will move to quickly approve Merrick Garland's supreme court appointment to deny hillary the opportunity to select her own nominee
