Pray For Palmyra: Russian Maestro Performs in Syria With Mariinsky Orchestra

It is sad really, the US is engaged in destroying and destabilizing that part of the world, as the Russians strive to make the place more stable by supporting Assad and his legitimate government, conducting musical performances in historical venues.

Such a contrast in styles and agenda.

The Russians send their state orchestra to play in the newly liberated UNESCO Heritage site of Palmyra in Syria.
Wrong. The Mariinsky Theatre orchestra of St. Petersburg played in Palmyra. The orchestra conductor, Valery Gergiev, is a longtime Putinista who backed the Russian invasions of Ukraine in 2014.

Incidentally, a performing cellist in Palmyra was Putin crony Sergei Roldugin. Yup. The same Sergei Roldugin exposed as the Putin regime's money-launderer in the Panama Papers exposé.

Panama Papers: Who is Sergei Roldugin, Vladimir Putin's cellist best friend at centre of money network?

Longtime Putin crony Sergei Roldugin is also godfather to Putin's youngest daughter Katya

Oh, those positively wicked Russians!

The US "conducted airstrikes" for 14 months yet ISIS fairly well thrived in Syria.

The Russians came in and "conducted airstrikes" for about 3 months and ISIS in Syria was in disarray.

Do the Russians have better bombs and missiles than we do? Whatup with that?

the russians dropped twice as many bombs as the US but the US is more focused on stabilizing Iraq because they don't like the assad regime

:lamo

The UN? The same people who've put countries like Castro's Cuba and Saudi Arabia on important councils vis a vis human rights?

They've got little credibility with me.

He said nothing about the UN. Read THEN post.

The same regime that drops uncontrollable barrel bombs on neighborhoods full of civilians? Glad you find that funny.

Oh, those positively wicked Russians!

Their "President" is a KGB agent and in bed with the Russian Mob, speaks volumes about those Russians.

Last time I knew, the Assad regime was not attacking any neighborhoods in Iraq. What is the story with these mysterious "barrel bombs" anyway ? I don't know what they are. Can you get me a credible link.

If you look at it, all bombs are barrels.

Most bombs have some level of aiming and/or control, these are free falling and simply dropped as terror devices meant to kill indiscriminately.

How is it you are privy to Syrian Army intentions and tactics ?

There is film of them using them over and over, maybe you should have read up on it, I posted some links to start with, I cannot do it all for you.

Russia had permission to fly over Syria...the US did not.

Crimea was never ruled by Ukraine. It was only attached to it as an autonomous state for, a few decades, when it was part of the USSR and it didn't matter. They are all ethnic Russians speaking Russian and voted to join with Russia.

It was part of Russia for hundreds of years.
