I did a cursory search for this and wasn't able to find any threads created on this topic. Simply put, porn is bad for your sexual health. It's associated with erectile dysfunction, and society is experiencing a massive spike in ED among young men.

It'll be interesting to hear what people have heard about this, their thoughts, or their reactions.

Well we know for sure that diabetes is spiking and that it causes ED, as for porn causing it I have never seen that proven, and based upon my experience and the experience of guys that I talk to I doubt that it can be proven. Porn has increased the quality of my life, I have no desire to restrict my porn intake, if I feel like consuming porn then I will consume porn.

EDIT: I do believe that porn tends to make us more sexually adventurous, which the feminists generally have a big problem with, because they tend to think that erotically adventurous men will do harm to women in pursuit of their erotic adventures.

Is there anything you don't blame "feminists" for?

Way too many variables to consider for such a blanket statement. I can envision scenarios in which it is unhealthy, scenarios in which it is healthy, and scenarios in which it is completely innocuous.

Unhealthy: A boy stumbling his way through puberty who watches rough, humiliation type porn multiple times a day. Everything he knows about sex comes from this. Probably not the healthiest thing in the world.

Healthy: A committed couple enjoy watching porn together on occasion to spice things up, and perhaps get some new ideas to try out. My wife and I have done this occasionally and I highly recommend it. :)

Innocuous: You are a well adjusted, sexually experienced person who happens to not be in a relationship at the moment and just want to release some sexual tension. Orgasming IS healthy and if you aren't having sex on a regular basis then the task is left up to the individual to "hand"le. :) Porn makes it much more enjoyable.

There are all different types of porn out there. A well adjusted individual can probably watch any kind of porn without any ill effect, whereas a young, inexperienced person could get the very wrong idea about sex from watching the wrong kind of porn. That said, there is also porn out there that shows sex in a loving fashion that promotes mutual respect. Admittedly, a 14 year-old is less likely to accidentally stumble upon that kind.

Parents need to assume their kids are going to see porn at some point and incorporate the topic it into "The Talk".

I tend not believe most things that are affiliated with the LDS Church, which is what this group is a front for, together with 'Fight the New Drug', unless I'm very much mistaken.

What are you talking about? The website is completely secular. And I'm Catholic.

Well those are the "Modesty" feminists that think that way. There are a lot of other feminists out there that disagree with that position.

Perhaps I'm conflating it w/another group, Fight The New Drug. I was under the impression that they worked together and were sponsored by the same source.

The American feminists are only party to blame for Americans kinked up sexuality because it has been a long running issue (the Church was the original main problem), but they are currently in full control of both sex law and victim services, anything that has gone wrong with the state's approach to sexuality since about 1985 is almost all the their fault. I give them credit for the early response because starting around mid 1970's there was a huge spike in sexual transgressions, something had to be done, but that early good work has metastasized into abuse of men, often state sponsored abuse.

Yeah, it's almost as if once one part of sexual morality was questioned, all of it was questioned.

Somehow a bull**** piece lands a near miss.

Pornography is a symptom of sexual addiction.

Now, if we were to have a topic on sexual addiction, I'm in, but all we're going to do is bash 'others' I have some paint I need to watch dry

Oh, no! Golly, what 'abuse of men' (even state-sponsored abuse of men) are you referring to?

Women will leave their husbands, get the kids, and then get half of everything. They lose nothing, and thus they initiate divorce far more often than men.

Havent read the study yet but Im guessing im not buying whatever it is selling especially if it is selling it in "blanket form" . . .

Why do I say that? well i have had threads here about how much people watch porn, masturbate and have real sex

and id guess that whatever the links "claims", I should have all of it LMAO and I bet i have none of the problems

Porn is probably like anything else, it affects some people different, some people probably abuse it (based on their own parameters) some people are probably immune to it, some people can probably do it 2 times a day everyday with no effect etc etc . .

I can say the only affects it has had on me is made me try new stuff with my lover and share ideas learned with her to see if any of it interests her or if she wants to do it because it interests me. And those affects would have also taken effect from simply reading or talking about positions, styles etc.

its been good for my health but then again Im guessing i got another 20 years of healthy sex life? I think?
do guys typically have problem free sex till they are 60?

anyway its an interesting topic though . . but sex drive etc is different for all . . i will be reading it and id be curious if anybody out there has been personally directly affected by porn in a negative health way?

For the record I get a catalogue from a very upscale tool company called "Lee Valley". They not only have the best tools, but have tools you never imagined and would like to have. The main catalogue is about two inches thick and has the highest quality resolution color.

It lives, where else, the can.

When she was alive, my wife called it "tool porn".

Sorry, maybe I'm missing something: how is that 'abuse of men'?

Oh God. Don't even bring up those morons.

Lee Valley is about the best porn.

How is taking away their children and properly unjustifiably called abuse of men? That's pretty self-evident.

LMAO ok the title is about meaningless just went to the link and researched it some and here is what they are really claiming

1. Internet porn addiction exists.of course so does addiction to sugar cereal
2. All addictions entail a constellation of shared fundamental brain changes, which have been documented in both substance and chemical addictions, and which are reflected in a specific set of signs & symptoms. true that CAN happen with ALL actual addictions including cereal.
3. Porn-induced sexual dysfunctions exist. again of course they do, just like they excist for masterbation, experminatation and "standard stereotypical sex" or also lack of sexual stimuli
4. Internet porn is inducing morphing sexual tastes in some users. just like talking, sharing experimenting and socializing does
5. Internet porn is inducing various other symptoms (loss of attraction to real partners, social anxiety, depression, brain fog, lack of motivation and withdrawal symptoms) in some users. sounds just like puberty, marriage, insecurity, picking the wrong partner etc and any other addiction
6. Many who give up Internet porn often notice gradual improvement in items 3-5. The only variable they appear to have in common is Internet porn use. wait what? ADDICTS improve by fixing their addiction? NO WAY!!! LMAO
7. Intense arousal has the power to condition sexuality, particularly adolescent sexuality, as a matter of neuroscience. which can also come from sex without porn

yeah what a waste of a study and claim, its basically meaningless...

thats one of the problems with "studies" today, people call them studies and they are scientific in anyway or the conclusions they claim cant actually be supported or specified to the actual case.

How is letting the former husband have custody of the children not 'abuse of women'?

These are just silly word games that don't have anything of substance behind them except emotion.

Everyone gets their day in court. That's how our system works.

I'll need more than just general, unsupported claims to accept that divorce proceedings are 'abuse of men'.
