Grand Jury No Bills Former McKinney Pool Party Cop « CBS Dallas / Fort Worth

The cop who last Sumner pinned a girl to the ground and drew his weapon trying to break up a pool party will not be indicted.

Here is an extended video on YouTube that helps better set up the slam.

This person is no longer in law enforcement thankfully

thoughts, question, concerns

Video looks bad but the young woman aggravated the situation by her overtly emotional and erratic actions. Sometimes remaining calm is in your best interests when dealing with law enforcement officers trying to keep the peace no matter what your personal feelings are about the justification for the police response.

I don't agree with him drawing his weapon in that situation and for that reason alone he should have lost his job. But why is it many of these situations that people decide to "act up" and become loud and aggressive around police officers? Actions like that are usually foolhardy and end up with getting your butt slammed to the ground, like it or not.

Here in the UK I expect my police to be trained to deal with angry shouting people in a professional manner. That's often the job.

When you go to a pool party with no actual truoble happening and break it up for no good reason (well, black kids in a white area) you should expect to get a load of verbal resistance. In fact you should not be a police man in the first place if that's your attitude.

What this Officer did was acceptable and most importantly, legal.

I believe the UK has a leg up on us in the fact that most people there do not act aggressively toward the police when the police are doing their jobs.

In this case other homeowners (some of them black) called the police because of large party that involved many people in a private community. The party goers were not trespassing, they had been invited by a member of that community. However based on the number of people, and the noise being made, the police were called which gave the police probable cause to reasonably inquire about the noise AND if the young people who were present were in fact not trespassing. But rather than remaining calm some of the party goers (most who were not residents of that neighborhood) decided to act out in protest to having the police just make the inquiry--- they made this worse than it needed to be and it resulted in what you see in the video. Offering "verbal resistance" is not adult behavior. And when there are dozens of young people surrounding the police with angry shouts being made---THEY MADE THE SITUATION WORSE.

Yes, what a shock!

The police crash a party of slightly to well drunk young kids and get a load of verbal!!!!! What has happened to the world???

The police were being paid to do a professional job, the kids were being kids. The kids had an attitude. The cops started using force. Who got it wrong?

Sorry but your answer does not pass the smell test. The police did not "crash" the party, they were called out by other concerned residents. Not sure what that means in the UK but over on this side of the pond that gives the police probable cause to make an inquiry.

Drinking and youth are not excuses for bad behavior.

Crash the party is the same here as there; Going to the party without an invite. That's an invite from the party giver not some other neibourgh.

Youth, drinking and having a private party are definately good reasons for loud anti-authority antics.

Point of fact.
They were trespassing as that community member had no authority to invite them all to the pool for a party.

While you can have a pool party and invite 20 guests, she did not seek permission to use the pool or throw a party.

Police crashed the party? Wut? ilol
The Police did not crash any party.
And btw, when they are called to respond to a disturbance, that is an invite.
