BRASILIA (Reuters) - U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo discussed Venezuela with the foreign minister of Brazil’s new right-wing government on Wednesday, in the context of what he termed a joint front against authoritarian regimes in Latin America.

Speaking to reporters after meeting with Brazil’s new Foreign Minister Ernesto Araujo, Pompeo named Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua as countries that do not have shared democratic values.

Sounds like a wish list for armed intervention by the U.S., starting with that new Russian nuclear bomber base in Venezuela. Now that Trump has an ally in charge of Brazil, what could possibly go wrong?

The worst of irony... the nationalistic and authoritarian Trump Administration talking to the newly elected nationalistic and authoritarian Brazil government in an attempt to handle the politically opposite but still authoritarian Venezuelan government.

It is basically like a couple of alcoholics sitting at the bar arguing about what to do with the 3rd alcoholic down at the end of the same bar.

Well, I would say the analogy would be better served if the third alcoholic has fallen off his stool unconscious on the barroom floor, and loudly shat his pants.

I find it interesting that Bolivia's Evo Morales attended Bolsonaro's inauguration. Thankfully for Morales, "Sim Senhor" is pronounced the same as "Sí Señor".
