Where are you KCConservative?

This poll reflects the heavy price the Republicans are going to pay for this November, consequences of the Bush administrations smug attitude and 911 mentality.

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A CNN poll released Wednesday may continue the anxiety for the GOP, showing Democrats with a 14-point advantage over Republicans among registered voters asked their preferences in this year's midterm elections.

The poll, conducted for CNN by Opinion Research Corp., found that 52 percent of respondents who were registered voters said they were leaning toward voting for a Democrat, while 38 percent said they were leaning toward a Republican...

Well, KidRocks, while I love those numbers, we need some better candidates for goodness sake! First of all, KC has been permanently banned.

Second, Bob Herbert wrote an editorial yesterday blasting the democrats and telling them to step up to the plate and stand for something, tell the American people what they are going to do differently, and stop sucking their thumbs. Here is a portion of his article. If you do not receive the NYT at home or are not a member of Times Select, you cannot open the attached link (however, I will send you the entire article behind closed doors shhhhhhhhhhhh ;)).

Where's the Beef?
By BOB HERBERT

I have no more patience with this perennially pathetic patient, this terminally timid Democrat who continues to lie cowering and trembling on the analyst's couch, wondering why the Demolition Derby Republicans control virtually all of the levers of power in the United States.

The Democrats are thinking too much and doing too little. This is a party in need of a moxie transplant. It's time for the patient to climb off the couch, walk outside and mix it up with the gang that has made a complete and utter mess of the country that was entrusted to it. . . .

Now would be an excellent time for Democrats to pounce, to show genuine leadership. This is not the time for yet another round of thumb-sucking, for more mind-numbing nonsense about narratives and framing, for more abstract talk about how to define the party. The public needs to know what you plan to do about the war. What's your energy policy? How should we deal with Iran?

What the Democrats need more than anything, with midterms coming up in the fall and a presidential election two years later, are personable candidates of strong character who have at least some measure of political courage and are willing to stand up for what they truly believe. This is the stuff that leaders are made of. . . .

If the Democrats don't know what they believe in yet — if they're still figuring that out — they don't deserve to win. Politicians are supposed to lead, and the U.S. has seldom been in more desperate need of leadership than now.

It's time to climb off the couch, Democrats, present yourselves to the public, and take a stand. If you're personable, and possessed of just a little bit of courage, you're halfway home.

The problem is that people usually hate congress, but love their congressman. I would not get my hopes up yet. You never know, the Dems could pull it off. They will probably make gains, but its at best 50/50 as to whether they can take the House or Senate. If they do though, they will probably have it for another 50 years just like the last time.

not to get off topic.. but KC was banned? Geesh, now who's partisan dribble am I going to laugh at? But I guess the question that begs to be asked is.. do people have skin THAT thin that they couldn't handle him?

I have officially stopped caring who is in the white house. I like to think of myself as someone who doesn't just follow a party but I've always voted more conservative than liberal. Yet now the reps are almost as liberal as the dems these days.. its insanity. What the hell happened to conservatism? I mean they all but kicked the fiscal conservatives out of the party... and they keep alienating their base by taking stances that are simply perplexing.

It wouldnt matter if 100% of the people said they backed the dems when election time rolls around the GOP will roll out the fear the morals and the flag while the dems just sit back and wonder why they cant win. Thus the country goes back to the status quo. Even if they get more seats out next president will be a republican Im not sure whom itill be but the dems will put Hillary on the ballot and the ice qeeun is to much of a dividing force to win hell the gop could put a hobo on the ballot and still win. Until we break the 2 party system us politics will be all talk and no actions hard issues like immagration and the economy will have allot of reterhoic but what wins votes are the "moral issues" like the war on christmas and flag burning. sad
