A vast majority of American voters believe that the United States is facing a “crisis” or a “problem” on the southern border, according to a new poll by Politico and Morning Consult.

While less than half of those surveyed (42 percent) agree with President Donald Trump’s assertion that the border is in “crisis,” another 37 percent concede that there is a “problem” — meaning 79 percent of voters believe the situation at the border is a serious issue.

Only 12 percent of voters polled said that the situation at the border is neither a crisis nor a problem.

It seems the Leftists here believe by a margin of 90%, the wall is neither a crisis nor a problem.

Anyone with a lick of sense. Even the odd Conservative. Trump's a con man. If you don't know that, you're a mark.

A majority also support a barrier, just not when Trump proposes it.

You do realize that "majority" means more than 50%, right?

Breaking News: a majority of Americans think their weight is a crisis or a problem or a point of occasional concern.

Would have been nice to separate those two questions. Be interesting to see the results.

I'm guessing huge number for problem, no so big for crisis.

I believe we have some problems on our Southern border, I do not believe that a wall across our Southern border is a realistic or effective way of dealing with that problem.

Funny how the people who live near the Mexican border don't think it's a crisis.

On the Border, Little Enthusiasm for a Wall: ‘We Have Other Problems That Need Fixing’

“This is the sleepiest little town you could think of,” said Adriana Zizumbo, 31, who was raised in Columbus and owns the cafe with her husband. “The only crisis we’re facing here is a shortage of labor. Fewer people cross the border to work than before, and Americans don’t want to get their hands dirty doing hard work.”

President Trump has shut down part of the government over border security and his plan to build a wall along the border with Mexico, and in a prime-time speech on Tuesday night he painted a bleak picture of life in towns like Columbus.

He said border residents were suffering through a “humanitarian crisis,” and he described a landscape scarred by violence and prowled by “vicious coyotes and ruthless gangs.” But that is not how Ms. Zizumbo sees it. People in Columbus, she said, opposed the idea of a wall by about a “90-to-10 margin.”

We have Trump and the GOP hyping and flooding the media with immigration being a crisis, Then, shills like zimmer tell us that people think immigration is a crisis.

That is in the article, and you would be correct. The OP is lumping the two together because trump is losing the “crisis” narrative badly. Likewise, he’s losing the argument on the wall issue which is why you consistently see republicans substituting “wall” for “border security,” as the OP has also done.

I agree that there is a crisis at the border

Because we are not letting enough people in

...That's equally as non-serious .And not a widely held position.

Conflating "crisis" and "problem" is just comical.

There is a difference between believing that there are issues at our southern border and wasting billions of dollars on fake solutions to appease the temper tantrums of an idiot who is trying to hold America hostage. Honestly I am surprised that only 79% of people believe there are problems. There are clearly issues.

Making such a reasonable statement means you have little future in politics.

Physical barrier's work and it's been proved over and over. Anyone saying they don't is blinded by
their total and complete hate of president Trump!

San Diego Fence Provides Lessons in Border Control
from 2006

https://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5323928

Before the fence was built, all that separated that stretch of Mexico from California was a single strand of cable that demarcated the international border.

Back then, Border Patrol agent Jim Henry says he was overwhelmed by the stream of immigrants who crossed into the United States illegally just in that sector.

"It was an area that was out of control," Henry says. "There were over 100,000 aliens crossing through this area a year."

Today, Henry is assistant chief of the Border Patrol's San Diego sector. He says apprehensions here are down 95 percent, from 100,000 a year to 5,000 a year, largely because the single strand of cable marking the border was replaced by double -- and in some places, triple -- fencing.

The first fence, 10 feet high, is made of welded metal panels. The second fence, 15 feet high, consists of steel mesh, and the top is angled inward to make it harder to climb over. Finally, in high-traffic areas, there's also a smaller chain-link fence. In between the two main fences is 150 feet of "no man's land," an area that the Border Patrol sweeps with flood lights and trucks, and soon, surveillance cameras.

"Here in San Diego, we have proven that the border infrastructure system does indeed work," Henry says. "It is highly effective."

All true, they are not initially able to get over the border in places like SD, but make no mistake about it, when they easily cross over to AZ. or TX, they are migrating back to CA. because we are a sanctuary state.... Hence, double/triple enforced fencing or some other secure enhancements are needed in those two states.

Watch the leftist media try to bury this poll.
This should be an interesting thread. :wink2:

Your article also stated, "Many said there was indeed a humanitarian crisis unfolding."
Reinforces the O/P's poll results succinctly.
And I live in southern CA., and there would NOT be a fence built here, along our southern border, if it were not a CRISIS.
My entire state is in crisis because it gives sanctuary status to people who are granted immunity by elected loony leftists, all who are complicit with those who willingly sneak into our state, putting a drain on the taxpayer who is left picking up the tab.

But many who are partisans before country types turn the blind eye because we all know why they do it. They are attempting to pander for the Hispanic vote.
Thankfully, many Hispanic-Americans are becoming aware of how they are being exploited to further along the Democratic's far left-wing agenda.

How many people were used in this poll? 10, 20, 30, 1000, 10,000 ?

You think that up yourself, or get help?
