The Political Compass - Test

I'm sure you guys have taken this before but I decided to try it out again, last time I did it was a few years ago. What does it say about you? Here is what it determined about me:

What does it end up saying about you?

There is also the smallest political test in the world but that one I'm not sure how to actually show results other than a prnt scrn.

Don't know what it means, but here's what it shows. Ha! Fun.

Those are six silly questions, appropos of pretty much nothing which would accurately place someone on this typology.

Six questions? It's more than that

Here's my results:

I don't like the test a whole lot because it doesn't present straightforward questions asking what the government ought to be involved in and when. Instead, it has propositions where (insert ideology here)-ist will TEND to answer one way or another. For example, the one about abstract art; supposedly hating it tips the test off about your BLATANT HOMOPHOBIA, and accordingly increases your authoritarian score.

I've never liked these questions either. There are too many 'absolutes', making you feel like there's no middle ground, also evidenced by the lack of 'unsure/somewhere in between' option'

I think it could be inaccurate for sure, but it seemed to place me in about the right spot. My guess is, the more absolutes you put the more it will put you into one of the other squares and vice versa.

Not sure what that means but there it is. I'm right about where Jose Zapatero is, whoever the hell that is.

As traditionally happens for me, I got a somewhat different result than the last times I took this test. I seem to always change some.

The test has a lot of limitations, but it could be significantly worse. At least it gets you in a ball park area that probably has significant agreement with yourself. Ultimately though this is more a tool for political novices as a way to get some basic idea of ideologies that might interest them rather than a set-in-stone accurate statement of your political leanings. For those who know some about politics, one key is being able to restate some of the questions into more neutral wording. For instance, the first question about whether globalization should "serve humanity or trans-national corporations" is probably better stated as "Globalization requires significant regulation/wealth redistribution to serve humanity." Nobody is against globalization serving humanity, the question is how to make it do so, whether by free market or interventionist means.

In any case here's my score:

I first took this test several years ago and was far further left and somewhat more authoritarian. I've been shifting down to the bottom right since then.

Not sure what that means but there it is.
Your answer means that you are more liberal than President Obama, at least according to Political Compass.

I'm right about where Jos Zapatero is, whoever the hell that is.
José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero is the current Prime Minister of Spain and the current leader of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party.

Here are my results:
Economic Left/Right: 2.38
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.33

I always seem to increase to the left just a tad when I take these tests.

I am a moderate left-wing authoritarian according to the Political Compass. According to the Moral Politics test, I am on the borderline between paleo-conservatism and Nazism. I consider myself an authoritarian centrist.

That's pretty much where I consider myself to be. Near the center.

I think you're right about that. I answered very few "Strongly Agree" or "Strongly Disagree." Couldn't work up much passion for most of them.
