Elizabeth Warren's stiff resistance to a bipartisan banking deregulation bill is not a surprise to her colleagues. But her tactics are.

She punched directly on Friday at her fellow Democratic senators who backed a bill easing up on regulations passed after the 2008 financial crisis — slamming it as a Wall Street giveaway.

The attack escalated a feud among the caucus’ moderate and liberal members that’s simmered all week long and underscores the ideological rift within the party as it tries to claw its way back to power.

Democrats worry the internecine war will only undermine the party ahead of the 2018 and 2020 elections.

"This is Republicans' dream, which is to see Democrats work across the aisle and Elizabeth Warren kill them for it," said a third Democratic aide whose boss is frustrated with Warren.

17 D's voted with mcconnell, including VP kaine, warner, coons, carper, stabenow, peters, mccaskill, both women from NH, and FL's bill nelson who looked parkland's cameron kasky dead in the eye (no gun barrel to stare down) and refused to endorse an AR ban

by the way, did you hear connor lamb in PA18 is shooting what politico calls "machine guns" to win tim murphy's house seat?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4BnOHydNcrM

and, of course, he's trashing n'antoinette let-them-eat-crumbs pelosi

but pocahontas is pissed

she just doesn't like the general direction things are heading

roy moore, notwithstanding

are you familiar with laura moser in TX7?

https://www.texastribune.org/2018/0...ts-come-out-against-laura-moser-primary-cand/

the dccc took the unusual step of trashing its own candidate, too liberal for west houston burbs, she wrote an article in 2014 in which she said she'd rather have a tooth pulled without anesthesia than live in texas

in a party-of-kaepernick primary, how could she lose?

anyone the dnc touches is dead

all the big money candidates in texas lost, principled D's in texas are as anti establishment as maga itself

and then there's the farakhan problem...

it did what nikolas cruz failed to do, for starters, it killed the parkland kids

have you heard?

stay tuned

Conor Lamb is an attractive candidate and is saying the right things to win that seat. If he doesn't beat someone as blah as Saccone, it's not a good sign for 2018.

We don't need no regulation;
we don't need no bank control.
Hey congress: leave the crooks alone!

Anyway, unless the bill has changed, aren't they trying to alter things so that a certain number of big but not tremendous banks get treated like small community banks (by raising SIFI threshhold from 50 billion to 250 billion, in two steps)? And these are requirements regarding things like loans, mortgages, the trading of them, etc. - the kind of stuff that blew up the economy in 2007 and for which we the taxpayers bailed them out to the tune of several hundred billion dollars?

Ok, I suppose it does more. (1) exempts certain smaller banks from the Volcker rule (control on speculative investments with customers' money), (2) adjusts their allowable leverage ratios, (3) exempts them from some disclosure rules, (4) allows lenders with under 10 billion to expand the types of mortgages offered, (5) removing escrow requirements for those banks, (6) forgo yearly stress tests for the 50-250 billion asset range banks, and I'm sure more.

Seems rather daft to say that because nothing horrible happened to the economy since the last mortgage/finance crash, it should be fine to let more banks do the same sort of things that helped generate that crash in the first place. If indeed there are issues with genuinely small banks, then it may not be unreasonable to look into it. But banks with 50-250 billion in assets, ie, Barclays?

Extra credit: the bill's sponsor has the last name "Crapo".

Like lambs to slaughter (sort of). Idiots. It's all good, Wells Fargo can rip off more people, with less bank regulation

She's a passionate one, and some times she fights for the right reasons. Nothing wrong with a little fire under the establishment's ass.

Just keep repeating the mantra,

government of the people, for the people, by the people, government of the sheeple, for the sheeple, by the sheeple, government by the people, of the people, for the people, ... .

... and lube up!

Me likum Pocahontas. Deregulate banks and history will repeat itself. MORONS!

Why do you need me to inform you that they are? Are you void of common sense?

I guess you missed the rhetorical part of the question. Not a problem. It was subtle.

But you don't think calling Warren Pocahontas is?

Of course it isnt. People often use historical figures as a means to mock certain behavior. Youve never called anyone Einstein? Would it be racist if you did? Of course not. How about referring to someone with a lead foot as Mario Andretti. Would that be racist? Of course not. You guys seriously need to stop abusing the term racism.

Don't be a racist.

The real sheeple are the morons who still believe in communism and invent lies about how we "conducted terrorism against the British".

Dare you to go on a reserve and call the first female native you see Pocahontas. Good luck with that.

PS. Your comparisons are idiotic.

That would be boorish and rude, not racist. Maybe you guys overuse the term simply because you dont know what it means. Thats possible, I suppose, but more then likely the cause is just intellectual laziness.

PS. Your comparisons are idiotic.
No, the comparisons are perfect. Not seeing that is what is idiotic.

it's a pejorative. Calling Warren Pocahontas is not to be taken as complimentary. It's also stereotypical. So yeah, it's racist.
