Please Stop Blessing People For Sneezing (1 Viewer)

It would be nice to be able to sneeze and not get blessed. There is no need to go to church after a sneeze.

A sneeze is a normal bodily function.

It does not require being blessed.

There is no need.

Nothing will happen to someone if they sneeze and don't get blessed. They are not going to hell.

What happens if you're alone and you sneeze? Are you going to hell if you don't bless yourself? Can you even bless yourself?

People might not appreciate being blessed if they don't share your religion.

It could be seen as unwanted proselytizing.

A sneeze is not a chance to spread your religion.

Please stop. Thank you.
Bless your heart.

This must be a very slow news day. It's a cultural convention so common that it's difficult to imagine someone actually thinking that a probably automatic "Bless you!" is proselytizing. I mean,.
Touche. Well said. 👏 👏

You have clearly misunderstood the purpose of the expression. Everyone knows that when you sneeze, your soul leaves your body for a brief moment. If you pay very close attention, you will notice it the next time you sneeze. People say "bless you" at that unoccupied moment, to prevent your body from being taken over by an evil spirit before you return. It isn't proselytizing - it's for your own protection.

🤣😇🤣😇🤣
(I SLAY ME!)

GESUNDHEIT !

I wonder how many people wonder why they automatically respond with a comment at all when somebody sneezes.

What I experience all the time is someone sneezing and saying "Excuse me!" at the same time others are saying "Bless you!" and "Gesundheit!"

My wife and I have a fun time with this. She's a marathon sneezer - usually 3, 4 or 5 sneezes in a row, but always with a short time lag in between and a longer time lag before her last one.

I'll respond "Bless you"...and then in anticipatory synch with her next one, "Bless you"... "annnnd.... Bless you"

It's actually therapeutic, getting her to laugh I think stops the marathon. :) :)

I don't care if someone says bless you or god bless you. But it's a silly tradition. We don't bless someone when they cough.
If you try they'll tell you oh that was a cough okay then don't bless you.
Lol

Actually met someone that would say it after you burped it was just kind of this gag he would do and always cracked me up.

Fun fact. when one sneezes, snot travels at 75 mph.

LOL. That could lead to embarrasing scenarios.
I don't think it's true there would be little seedy bars called the black pepper room or feathers. And they wouldn't be allowed to be built within a thousand feet of a school or daycare.

Liberals try to suck the good out of everything.

Viva la Trump baby!!
As if being an atheist has anything to do with one's politics.

I doubt anybody who has that habit is intending that. Simply the fact that it is a common habit and a cultural norm does the trick. And why? Why is everyone trained to subconsciously spread the religion? I tell you one thing. The people who share my beliefs weren't coerced into it. Atheists come of their view completely on their own. And the more that religion tries to push itself on others, the more desperate it appears. And the less credibility it has.

Why not just keep one's religion to oneself?

We already have to put up with over a month of themed music over this thing every year, and recently we have the complaints during this audio onslaught that there is a "War on Christmas." Good grief. What it comes off as is a battle to push it on everybody else.

Have some consideration, already. Not everyone shares that religion. It's presumptuous.

Apparently the Christian thing about loving everyone doesn't extend to respecting others' freedom to not be part of the religion...

Me when my dog sneezes, “awww bless you little one.”

Me when a human sneezes, “shut the **** up, Kevin.”
