Why is it that if someone points out that islamic extreamist are responsible for terrorism around the world certain people come to the defense of the terrorist. One of the tactics they use is to lable said person as Islamophobic in an attempt to marginalize them. ~ Sgt Rock

Joseph Klein attempts to shead some light on the subject in an article in frontpage magazine March 5, 2007

Do you speak about me?

If it is the case, re-read carefully all my posts. Nowhere I defend terrorism or extremism.

You are not Islamophobic because you talk about Bin Laden or all the atrocities that are done in the name of Islam, you are Islamophobic when you try to show that all the muslims are extremists or untolerant, and when you say that Muslims have the monopoly on terrorism. Have a look on the topic "war on error".

So am I an Islamophobic if I suggested that Jihad and Martyrdom are not virtues, they are falsifications of virtue, and that one could justify both with scripture (the Koran?)

No.

But if you always talk about Jihad, it's fair not to forget that many attrocities are justified by other books, and not to deny Muslims don't have monopoly on violence.

Who says that I have? I have contempt for all dangerous dogmas.

Did I say I was speaking about you? I will not trust a muslim until I see so called moderates marching in the streets condeming the extreamist. Even then it will take awhile before I trust a muslim. Maybe never ~ Sgt Rock

But its not like a race card i am islamophobic or maybe just religionophobic in some way im actually scared by the fact these suicide bomber actually believe what they are suposed to believe.Thats why im more ok with most christians because they dont actually believe what they are surposed to believe.

So basically the quran justifys islamic terrorism the same way the bible justifys killing people for working on the sabbath day.

But nothing you can say will convince me they can be trusted. I trust no muslim. They are the enemy

If that is not a great example of islamophobism, you have to explain me what I could call "Islamophobism", dude.

I am Islamaphobic, I admit it. Most people I know are. In my opinion Islam is evil. The false prophet Mohammad was a evil son of a bi.tch. If there is such a place as hell Mohammad is there. ~ Sgt Rock

And that's all of religion.

The only people responsible for Islamic terrorism are the people who actually commit it, period. It's not Islam, it's not men with beards, it's a bunch of crazy lunatics who strap bombs to their back. Therefore, being Islamophobic is ridiculous, the overwhelming majority of Muslims will never blow themselves up on the bus, any more than the overwhelming majority of Christians will ever torture someone for beliving a different dogma. You want to get mad about the Inquisition, blame Torquemada, not Christianity.

Actually I blame Saint Augustine, and I don't target Christianity. I simply refuse to accept the notion that we must respect people's religious beliefs because they believe them.

Jihad and Martyrdom are virtues in Islam, if you ask any fundamentalist (and not a cherry picking moderate.) Such barbarism, just like in the case of Christianity, can be supported by scripture. I believe terrorism happens when societies fail to criticism such dogmas.

If anyone truly believes they have the infallible word of god at their bedside, within the context of their beliefs even the most savage acts can be morally justified. God is not a moderate, and I don't recall him allowing us to jettison his old testament morality.

Imagine if you actually believed that I as a heretic, and your neighbor, could say something so spiritually wayward to your Children, for example getting them to renounce the holy spirit (an unforgivable sin,) that I could cause them to suffer torture and torment for all eternity. Suddenly I am infinately more dangerous, and visit more suffering onto your child than say... a child molester next door. Whats an evening of trauma compared to an eternity of torture?

I haven't seen anyone here come to the defense of terrorists.

What I do see is people confronting the bigoted attitude that because a small number of Islamics are terrorists therefore they are all terrorists.

Yes, I have also yet to see anyone defend terrorism.

As for the topic, it is kind of like how many once believed that all black men were out to rape/kill white women. Or that all Catholics were only beholden to the Pope and therefore had no reason to be trusted. Or that all Jews are out to take over the world. Or...

Well said. Every example of racial ethnic and religious bigotry and prejudice through history has had its proponents who offered reasons why their hate of members of a group was justified.

SgtRock is no different.

You certainly should, it isn't just Islamic fundamentalists who are terrorists, Christian fundamentalists are as well. After all, it isn't the Muslims out there blowing up abortion clinics and dragging gays behind their pickups. Christians are just as whacked-out-of-their-skulls as Muslims.

How many gays were drug behind pick up trucks? None. I researched this. I did research Mathew Shepard a gay man that was beaten to death in Wyoming. Russell Henderson and Aaron McKinney were sent to prison for the murder. They did not do this in the name of God or Jesus.

There hasn't been an abortion clinic bombing in almost 10 years. Eric Rudolph was convicted and received 5 consecutive life sentences. He was responsible for the death of 3 people. He is a christian terrorist. The only Christian American terrorist I could find after researching this for several hours.

I can give you examples of thousands of muslim terrorist that have murdered in the name of Allah. Shall I start listing them. We can go tit for tat if you wish. You give an example of a christian terrorist from the last 25 years and I'll give you 10 examples of muslim terrorist. Are you up to the challange?
I think you have been brainwashed into believing Christians are terrorist.

the point is that some of them are, not all of them. The point is that some Muslims are terrorists, not all of them are. The point is that blanket generalizations using labels like you have done cannot possibly be true. the point is that you have no idea what you're talking about when you say "someone," or "they."

why don't you name names? ah, to do so would the antithesis of your much beloved "us and them" generalization mindset.

The point is there are very few Christian terrorist. The point is there are thousands of muslim terrorist who are growing in numbers. These people are taught in there schools and there Mosques to hate infidels. And the ultimate sacrifice for them is to kill infidels in the name of Allah. "Allah Akbar" is what they shout out when blowing them selfs up. I have seen video of Palestinian children as young as 5 claiming they want to kill jews and they want to die for allah. If you can not see something wrong with that picture then you have been brainwashed as well.

I know there are good muslims, I just don't trust them because I cannot tell the difference between the good muslim and the extreamist. They all look the same to me. If Muslims would organize and take back there religion from the extreamist by say, Marching in the streets condeming the fanatics. Then I would start to trust them. But they won't do that. Muslims around the world march in the streets all the time. Usally shouting Death to Israel or Death to America. or the Cartoon riots. I could go on and on. So if they truely wanted to take there religion back from the extreamist they could. I would be right there with them marching and condemming the muslim terrorist. ~ Sgt Rock

sgt rock, you said there are thousands of muslim terrorists. according to the CIA world factbook, the worldwide islamic population is approximately 1.6 billion.

so let's just say (to use your estimate) very generously that there are 999 thousand muslim terrorists. this would equal much much less than 1 percent of the worldwide population of muslims.

then the issue here, which you yourself admit, is that you ought to educate yourself so that you can learn how to not be a hater. given the fact that when you encounter a muslim, the chances that he/she is a terrorist are about 1 in 10,000 or something, you should be more worried about second hand smoke, being hit by a truck, or having a heart attack.

That's a particularly lame comparison you're attempting to make. The acts of the very few ignorant fools who hide their insecurities behind the Christian religion is almost non-existent, and no where near as life altering as compared to what the world is being put through due to Islamic extremists.

The above mentioned fools have no effect on the broader world and are part and parcel of the worst side of the human condition, whereas you can hardly spin the globe and not touch a place that isn't being effected by extreme Muslims.

More people die in a day at the hands of them, than the total killed in abortion clinic bombings.

Today, sure. But go back 500 years and you'd find many similar horrors being visited upon the world by Christianity. After all, you haven't seen the Muslims pulling nonsense like the Crusades (let's rape and murder our way across the Middle East) and the Inquisitions, have we?

There's no one innocent here, Christianity is just older and went through it's violent, murderous period long ago, but when they did it, they had massive political power backing them up.

The fact that you have to go back 500 years to make a comparison is equally lame. I used to soil my diapers and play with Leggo's; I grew out of that. I've evolved past the days of my childish ignorance and because I did it then doesn't excuse an adult, barring the mentally ill, for doing it now.

As for Muslims and Crusades, they never gained a strong enough foothold, but it wasn't for lack of trying. Read into Persian history and the Ottoman Empire. The loser didn't lose because he's innocent, he lost because he failed.
