Every now and then, an event that has the potential to alter the course of history comes along and presents the opportunity for us DPers to place bets for a good cause.

I am not talking about January 6th, the Oklahoma City Bombing, Columbine or 9/11. I am talking about events like Donald Trump possibly wining the Nobel Peace Prize. Such an event could potentially make us all forget how Trump was beating his meat to possibly annexing Canada, Greeland and anyone else who may think he is a massive ****. It could make us all forget how he's been bombing people all over the world. What people? Who cares.

The point is that this thread is for us to place bets on whether the man will win this prize he so desperately wants because Obama got one too. What you bet is up to you as long as you abide by DP rules.

Not if sane, rational, intelligent heads prevail.

But I am betting he will, not deservedly so, but because the Nobel folk will just get so totally sick and tired of his dick headed whining about it.
 
He may have not been 100% successful and it's a work in progress but that guy have done a hell of a lot diplomatically to end wars and conflicts all over the world.

Absolutely. Trump has done more to alienate other countries than any other president in history. And he's also done more to divide the country he supposedly leads. Nobel Peace Prize? Please.
 
There is no way Trump can win the Nobel Peace prize as he is too corrupt. That does not mean that he won't try and "buy" it for bragging purposes.

( unless the standards for the Prize have deteriorated a lot......and the contenders don't have to have integrity, kindness, ethics, and a life long purpose for world peace.........and behave in a peaceful way..( verbally etc)
 
Guys, I'd be happy to be wrong, but I really think there is a probability that it could happen. People can be bought, awards can be sold.

I think it is a mistake to dismiss this probability no matter how small some think it is.

ANd it is severley misplaced "hero worship". He is the poorest example for anyone to "worship"....... let alone respect . He3 is destroying the country........and some think he should get the peace prize??? That is a form of collective insanity.
 
He might. He wouldn't be the first person to get it that doesn't deserve it.

He wants it bad so he will go all out to make it happen.

I'll also just go on record as saying anyone who actually seriously thinks he deserves to win it is not a serious person.
 
I voted YES because I think it will happen ... not because I think he deserves it.

This is like the immovable force against the irresistible object. The Nobel committee can rarely pass up the opportunity to grant a warmonger a Peace Prize ... but Trump is uniquely ham-fisted in his approach to these things. I think it's a toss-up.
 
If this proposal holds he will at least have an argument in his favor. At the moment he's objectively done nothing but destabilize the world for the past decade.
 
If they were to give Trump the Peace Prize, they might as well shut it down afterwards. The prize would become something you can buy or negotiate your way into, rather than what it was meant to be. Namely: "awarded to the person who has done the most or the best work for the fraternization of nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies, and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses"
