I looked at the goarmy site and so far this is what I got is
Psychological Operations Specialist (37F) which is def the most appealing to me but it doesn't seem like something I could qualify for nor does it seem to be something that they let you do coming into the army.

I got a few others but I don't what to give them out without knowing the specific information about them. I had them copied out on a notepad file but apparently forgot to save before I restarted the computer the other day. been trying to search the goarmy site but it keeps giving me weird errors and seems to do that when it feels like it....until then what MOS did the army vets here have, how did you like it, how long did you train and what year was it that you did?

I was an 11B/11M--Infantry/Bradley Fighting Vehicle Crewman. I loved it. It was awesome tearing through the woods in a 25 ton armored vehicle, firing heavy weapons. The overall professionalism of a combat arms unit is at a higher level than support arms units. I also cross trained as a 45B--small arms repairer--because I had visions of being selected for SF.

I got to do some cool ass **** in the Army, because I was in the infantry. I attended jumps school, air assault school, the bradley master gunner's course, mountain warfare school, arctic warfare school. Back then, those slots went to infantry soldiers, first. But, I regret that I enver learned anything that I could actually use in the real world.

So, my advice would be, to look at how an MOS can be applied in the real world while you're making your selection. But, no matter what, don't select an MOS that you don't think you're going to enjoy, because it's not like you can just quit, if you hate it.

Why Army? Why not Navy, Air Force?
Where do you expect to be after your military service? What kind of civilian job would you like when you get out? Do you like a clean work environment? Does dirty work bother you?
Want job training that will lead into a good civilian job? Shooting at people doesn't transfer to civilian jobs very well.
Barring the unexpected, you have a lot of years ahead of you, why spend any of your future doing less than you are capable of?
How well did you do in High School?

If you are planning a career in the military, then a combat-arms MOS will open up advancement quicker. (It used to be that way back when we loaded our machine guns throught the muzzle ;-)

Otherwise find a job you can transfer to civilian career. AND, whatever you do, get everything in writing.

Set your sights high...if you don't qualify for it then you don't, but you'll never get it if you don't ask for it.

I was a 31R/25Q multichannel transmission systems operator. Training was 9 weeks of Basic Training, 9 months of ATI. This was an Army MOS. I loved it, I really miss being in the Army. Communications was nice, get to play with some technology, and weapons.

I would add before you go to MEPS study the ASVAB study guide, hard, same thing as the SAT guides out there, but if you ace the ASVAB, you can pick whatever job you want, and get great bonuses to boot.

I got a good job, that shouldn't have given any bonuses, but they gave me 17,000 in other bonus's for things like going to basic during the summer, and I got a guaranteed assignment in Germany for my first duty station.

Just curious what makes that your first choice for a job. Also how come you think you wont qualify and I am quite sure that you can enlist straight into PSYOPS.

I won't qualify because you can't have ANY criminal history other than traffic violations...I have a misdemeanor charge.

How will psyops help in a civilian career? Will you use the GI bill after your service to become a psychiatrist, or psychologist?

Every soldier I known that was stationed in Germany described it like it was a Disney land for men(Lots of women, hookers and good beer) and that if you were not married before you got to Germany you would be afterward. Is this true?

all of which can affect your security clearance, and therefore your career in the Army...

Oh my, it was wonderful. Disney Land for adults, that's a good way to describe it. I literally had 3 woman propose to ME over there, you wouldn't think it being so developed and all, but I was surprised, I bet it's real easy to get married over there.

I had a blast, the real October Fest is amazing.
