My pick is nationalizing the oil and gas industry and dispersing the profits among society rather than a few big execs

If I had a gun to my head, I'd probably go for some kind of "Bronze Level" healthcare for everyone. If you want Silver or Gold you pay for that out of pocket.

That's exactly how universal healthcare works in civilized countries. Healthcare is free. But if you want to hire private doctors, specialists, private hospital rooms, expedited appointments and procedures, or anything else you want, you're free to pay for it.

Sadly, the greatest glory days ala the Norwegian experience are probably past, but I certainly wouldn't mind, especially when paired with a creation of sovereign wealth fund as an outlet for its profits.

Also, the policy I would like most enacted is constitutional reform to decisively shut down the nonsense Buckley v Valeo 1976 'money is speech' SCOTUS ruling that has resulted in the constitutional protection of unlimited political spending and the country's plutocratization and governmental/regulatory capture by multinational corps, but that's not exactly a 'socialist' position exclusively.

Where is the "abolish the capitalist mode of production and restructure our economy through bottom up horizontal economic democracy" option for the real socialists?

Which (if any) M4A bill created by our congress do you support? It’s easy to say do it like some other unnamed “civilized country” does it, but quite another to expect our congress critters to copy (or even identify) that system.

I picked other. None of the above wasn't an option.

The present value of the Exxon Mobile corporation alone is about $380B. Many “US” oil companies (like Shell Oil) are actually foreign owned. How, exactly, would you propose buying out the oil and gas companies to be “nationalized”?

I don’t know.

I’d like to do this

At the federal level

Yea, they all have two-tiered systems, one for the proles and a private system for those who don't want to suffer or die on a waiting list.

They all would. Although I don't really like nationalizing anything so that would be off the table.

Universal medical care was my biggest and would have immediate impact. Plus, every industrialized world has it so we know it works

Alaska is doing it atm if I’m not mistaken

Using 2021 numbers from various sources, mostly government reported by some private, our total GDP was roughly $23.1 Trillion. While numbers are still being determined, a few audits here and there from the same sources, we spent roughly $4.3 Trillion on healthcare.

So roughly, 18.6% of our GDP is in some way healthcare related.

Far more than any other comparable nation to the US that you can find.

Now, Medicare for All will not fix all of this. It will take additional legislation empowering the government to negotiate with pharmaceuticals and deal with the healthcare establishment basically raping everyone across the nation. But, it is the right move to deal with outrageous costs.

I am not happy about it, but this is where we are and the biggest mistake made was allowing vulture capitalism via healthcare insurance companies get in the way of market forces between the provider and the patient. The rest is just the history of very powerful people buying members of Congress.

You have anything to add other than finger wagging and nay saying?

Ok, I pick UBI, as long as it works as follows: Every month the total amount of revenue collected by federal, state, and local governments must be tallied up and divided by the population. Then send every person a check for that amount.

Tough choice between healthcare and education. I consider both vital to national security.

That will be our RvW mission except we have no money backing us lol
