Obama has done nothing with Gitmo other than completely imitate the policies of the Bush administration.
In fact, almost everything Obama has done has been a imitation of the Bush policies, save for taxes-- about the only thing that was "conservative" about Bush.
But apparently the koolaid tastes better when the servant is "colored".
SO "betrayus" is now in vogue for the kook leftists. the hypocrisy is sickening.
I prefer that he took some time to carefully examine the issue before taking action. Beats the hell out of flying by the seat of our pants as a nation.
So now MoveOn will take out an ad thanking General Petraeus for being such a great guy?
Can you elaborate further? I've always liked Petraeus. Are you satirizing the leftist term for him? Or is that a military term for him? I'm just asking because I thought he was well-liked in military circles.
So Bush's "gut" is equal to Obama's ponderous intellectual reflection. And that comforts you?
the leftists, remember that ad? Remember the vitriol against him, it was sickening...
Now they want to chum up to him?
MoveOn.org no more represents the Dem party than Fox represents the Repub party.
General Petraeus is just the latest military leader to back yet another of Obama's decisions. :2wave:
The OP is not about MoveOn's ad against General Petraeus, but about his recently stated position on torture and the closing of Gitmo. I believe it is sincere, else he would have just kept quiet.
It seems a lot of Obama's decisions are the same as George Bush's. But Obama doesn't get viciously attacked the way Bush did. Some things are just the way they are and it has nothing to do with George Bush as Obama is finding out.
Bush said that he wanted us out of Guantanamo long before he left office.
SO "betrayus" is now in vogue for the kook leftists. the hypocrisy is sickening.
I think that Hellhound is right to point out that those who once criticized Petraeus have now, because he's working for Obama, become his biggest fans. It speaks to the fickle nature of their views, and their short attention spans.
I realize that Conservatives have trouble adapting to changes...even positive changes...but try not to let your unconscious defense mechanism deny thoughts, feelings, or facts that are consciously intolerable to you...like Patraeus speaking the truth. The OP is not about the left dissagreeing with Patraeus during the surge, and agreeing with him now. Right now the man whom the right put on a pedestal as the most "brilliant military mind alive" agrees with Obama, and not with you. And righties can't squirm out of that reality with the "you didn't agree with him in 2007" defense.SO "betrayus" is now in vogue for the kook leftists. the hypocrisy is sickening.
Fine, having "pointed it out", could we discuss the issue of Petraeus' endorsement of the Obama plan to close Gitmo?

Absolutely. Now that Petraeus is endorsing Obama's closure of Gitmo, is he still going to be looked at as "Betrayus" by Moveon.org?

who cares? What is your reaction to his statement?
There are roughly 28 million registered Democrats in this country. MoveOn represents about 3 million of them. They are hardly the spokesmen for "the left".
What does Moveon.org thinks have to do with Petraeus endorsing Obama?
I didn't say all democrats. I said "moveon", who voiced strong opinions against Petreaus before. I am curious about that dynamic. If you aren't, simply don't respond.
