If you were really concerned about the economy and loopholes rather than hindering voters you don't like, you'd be demanding the KNOWN loopholes be closed that allow the top 10% to pay less taxes than average middle class citizens.Maybe it's a trust issue with me but, why not cover any loopholes in the system just to be sure?
No worries...there won't be a country for very much longer at this rate.

And Sandra Day regrets that decision of hers to this very day .
If it keeps one single American from voting that should be able to, It is a problem.
economics is not a valid reason to supress the peoples right to vote.
The voter ID movement in the last few years has been a pretty transparent action to disenfranchise groups that tend to vote Democrat. It's even worse than racism. At least racists actually mean the awful things they say. This is just shallow partisan crap. It is literally just shredding people's rights in order to grab power. It is the basest and most disgusting thing a politician can do in our system.
Of course it does. Voter laws are supposed to ensure that everybody gets to vote, not to Jim Crow the vote for some. And about this lame argument that Jim Crowing the vote stops voter fraud, show me proof that there was enough voter fraud in ANY election to change the outcome of that election. And when I say proof, I don't mean show some talking head on FOX News claiming voter fraud. Show me the hard numbers FROM A REPUTABLE SOURCE, not Breitbart, which has been caught time and time again making crap up. Good luck with that.
Finally, I must say that, if a political party is so desperate to remain relevant that they have to resort to Jim Crow to attempt to win elections, then there is a problem with that party. At least, at this time, the mainstream Republicans are fighting the good fight to wrest control of the party back from the wackos that hijacked it, and that's a good sign. The Republican party does not need Tea Partiers or any other kind of "Confederate" in the party. With reasonable ideas, the GOP will stick around a long time, and make important contributions to America's political process.
Article is here.

To me, and despite all the liberal musings, it is insane that a person shouldn't have to prove they are who they say they are to vote? I can't think of ANY legitimate reason not to do so.
Tim-
Thank you for proving your complete ignorance. Bless your heart. Not only is that not relevant to this topic, it's bunk. They pay most of the taxes.
Oh dear, the boo hoo crowd is whining about legit voters voting.
Thank you for proving your complete ignorance. Bless your heart.
You can pay less taxes by being in the top 10 percent?
Dubya still won Florida. Her emotional problems are emotional and not relevant.
ID stops "rights"?
ID is not suppression, according to democrats. Remember guns?
Why do democrats, according to you, not get ID?
You should say Jim Crow again. ID is not racist, or Jim Crow.
If the actual intent of these recent voting laws is to reduce fraud they would be implemented in a way that does not disenfranchise so many people. That could be done with an outreach program to get everyone ID cards, and/or a program that would give everyone an ID card automatically at age 18, before the new voting restrictions take effect.
Hey this country is way broke. Having 'legit' or otherwise voters electing officials (from both parties) who continue to spend and borrow is a killer.
It can't be sustained.
Yes, if one single person who is legally able to vote is not allowed because they do not have proper ID, indeed, it interferes with their right to vote.
do you think creating a country that discriminates and denies the people of their right to vote because of economic status is justifiable?
Here in Texas, the DPS offers IDs for free.

You mean groups that are basically the 'takers' of society that vote Democrat. Haven't we seen the result of letting those groups elect our leaders?
Is not racism, it's economics.
So even if they're legit, ban them from voting since you classify them as "takers".
I gave you the options. At one time only property owners were allowed to vote.
BECAUSE THEY HAD A *STAKE* IN THIS COUNTRY'S EXISTENCE! They weren't simply parasites feeding off the host..
If you have a point...
And many elderly people can't get to them because bus lines don't run there. It's OK in Houston, but many elderly people live out in the sticks, where no bus lines run. So, even if you can get a free card, there is still an undue burden on you to get it. And, once again, show me hard numbers that prove elections have been changed because of a few people who illegally cast votes.
You cannot say yes? s that because you have some political based motivation stopping you?
