Well, that didn't take long. Now that Nancy whipped Trump's ass on the shutdown, she is moving on to spanking Trump some more:

Trump caved on the shutdown.

He got $0 for the wall.

He is not going to give the SOTU on 1/29.

His approval numbers are in the proverbial ****ter.

Perhaps get some sleep, wake up, smell the coffee.

It's another case of "you could almost feel sorry for Trump and his fleeting attempts at doing the right thing." Damned if he does. Damned if he doesn't. Someone's always trying to humiliate him.

Then you remember that the "right thing" he did was to end the 5 weeks of hell that he put a million Americans through for no good reason.

This shutdown ended with nothing changed. Except alot of middle classed government employees and contractors being poorer.

Yeah, she got a mandate in November. But she better not alienate the Indies. The surest and easiest way to deactivate Trump is via Nov 2020. And that takes both Dems & Indies.

Nancy's options:

1. Make a deal that Trump will accept. If she does this, her supporters are pissed at her.

2. Don't make a deal. If she does this, it'll result in either HER closing down the government again or Trump declaring a national emergency and moving forward with his wall. Either option...someone is pissed at her.

That's the box she's in...and she has a deadline.

My prediction: She will go with option 1. She will try to get a good deal from Trump in return for giving him all the money he wants and she'll hope the media is successful in spinning it well enough to minimize the damage.

It seems it is Trump who is boxed in. His supporters want a wall. Nancy has made her position known that there will be no wall. She got what she wanted and Trump is left licking his wounds (that AP had his approval at 34 percent ouch!). He might get the wall but he will have to give her what the party wants and he already made a foolish mistake turning down 25 billion. He is the one who will have to give. Sucks to be him.

Trump has something that Pelosi doesn't have: And escape hatch. He can cut Congress out of the issue and just build the wall without them.

Pelosi doesn't have any escape hatch. She only has those two choices I outlined.

She wouldn’t mind if he built the wall with out her. It will be tied up in court for years, likely remaining unbuilt. But it would a great opening to declare an national emergency for health care and global warming. She’s probably praying he goes that route.

Look I get it’s hard seeing Trump fail so bigly.

No...it won't be tied up in court for years.

There are no grounds that could prevent Trump from declaring a national emergency or from building a wall.

As far as Trump doing this being a precedent of some kind...nonsense. Presidents have had this power for a long time and they've all used it. Heck, the next Dem President (whenever that happens) could always try to use the National Emergencies Act. They don't need Trump's action to give them an excuse.
