I think it’s pretty obvious. Crap hit the fan and he probably wasn’t set to deliver a convincing win anyway. Why not politicize the whole shebang and accuse Trump of being a racist unworthy of debate?

Pelosi is absolutely right - Biden should NOT debate Trump.

Sure, Biden will take some heat from republicans, but its better for Biden to mitigate the damage done to him.

It's better to take some heat from a few republican pundits on Fox News than to be pummeled into submission by Trump on a debate stage. The people voting for Biden won't care if he skips out on the debates.

Biden is the type that can get flustered and probably would throw a punch in real life away from the cameras. Regardless, he won’t be allowed to do that against Trump so he’ll have to stew in his on-stage dismemberment.

Joe’s tough though. He’ll be a great fall guy for the democrats. The balancing act will be reformulating the party as one of hope and promise instead of an all out assault on what Trump and his supporters support.
