Peaceful Demonstrators tear-gased in our Capital

Video evidence suggests otherwise. And yes, they were gassed.

I've experienced military tear gas and pepper spray. Neither is a lot of fun but, I applaud use of either to stop this madness.

After the first night or two, these protesters had to know they were nothing but a smoke screen for the violent perpetrators. They should have stayed home after that. Instead they became complicit. The getaway drivers if you will.

Maybe he should have stayed hidden, peeing his depends rather than having innocent people attacked for a photo op...

You just can't say anything about President Trump without being insulting can you?

That says everything about you this forum needs to know.

This all comes after a couple of nights of violent riots and destruction and defacement of national memorials.

But no reason to be careful with the wellbeing of the POTUS or anything.

You seem only focused on law and order. But justice is what folks are demonstrating about.
In no way am I defending the criminal actions of those who have rioted, looted and vandalized. If they can be caught, try them and sentence them.
The DC crowd was not engaged in acts of violence. What seems to you to be prudent protection for our president many Americans see as overzealous cracking down
on a populace that is obviously distraught and needing to actively demand better from our country.

The media has used it to drum up more hatred for the POTUS, the police and the military….this I can see for sure..

lawful or not you still disperse if the police or other law enforcement authorities tell you to do so.
not on private property, especially a church and most importantly not for an asshole to have a photo op.

Monahan specifically denied a widespread claim that Park Police or another agency, such as Secret Service or the National Guard, deployed tear gas against demonstrators protesting the killing of George Floyd by Minnesota police, as was widely reported and alleged, including by Trump’s presumed Democratic opponent Joe Biden.

Officers did however use smoke canisters and pepper balls, which induce a stinging effect similar to pepper spray, he said. Moments later on 16th St directly north of the White House, there were loud bangs that appeared to be from police flash-bang grenades, but Monahan’s statement did not address their use.

The Park Police chief, whose beleaguered force was pelted with bricks and water bottles throughout Saturday and Sunday night, said that on Monday, officers advanced around 6:33 pm and “violent protestors on H Street NW began throwing projectiles including bricks, frozen water bottles and caustic liquids.”

“The protestors also climbed onto a historic building at the north end of Lafayette Park that was destroyed by arson days prior,” Monahan said. “Intelligence had revealed calls for violence against the police, and officers found caches of glass bottles, baseball bats and metal poles hidden along the street. To curtail the violence that was underway, the USPP, following established policy, issued three warnings over a loudspeaker to alert demonstrators on H Street to evacuate the area. Horse mounted patrol, Civil Disturbance Units and additional personnel were used to clear the area.”
