I actually saw this on facebook a few days ago. I see absolutely nothing wrong with it at this point. It's a great idea. Gonna push it through my student advocacy groups in California too.

the article indicates the students at portland were instrumental at getting this funding mechanism considered

1. Voluntary
2. They pay for their own benefit
3. the payment is a flat percentage
4. Other people aren't required to pay for what they want

Imagine if most of our tax and spend programs were run that way. I wonder which political ideology pushes for things that have those qualities
