How One Priest Turned Putin’s Invasion Into a Holy War​

Yep to no surprise the guy that claims same sex marriage is Nazism, and that the war in Ukraine is about stopping gay parades sees the conflict as a Holy War. And he is the head of the Russian Orthodox Church. He is of course a proponent of the idea of a Russkii mir, a Russian space that rightfully belong to the Russian people (some times this is called Holy Russia or Holy Rus), which corresponds with all territory that either belonged to the USSR or the Russian Empire. He has also several times said Russians, Ukrainians and Belarusians are the same people, and thus belong in the same nation. Under his leadership Orthodox churches that has strong cultural ties with the Russian Orthodox church have campaigned against EU and NATO membership in several Eastern European countries.

This idea of a Russian holy empire has been decried as a heresy by several other Orthodox churches.

Kirills, rhetoric has recently escalated. He now describes Ukrainians as "evil forces", and that the war is a part of a metaphysical struggle against Western Liberal values (the Antichrist). Of course Kyril has talked about Antichrtist before, just a few years ago he claimed that smartphones and the Internet would be used by the Antichrist to control humans.

The holy war keeps going. In the Murmansk region the Metropolitan revealed to a brigade in Alakurtti (right by the Finnish border), that the war actually is against no one else than the Prince of Darkness himself, the Antichrist, who controls Europe and Ukraine. And that Ukrainians have betrayed their genetic code (like what? how do you "betray a genetic code", and what does it have to do with the church?)
