The 21st century "Nutsodumbass" is at it again.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- In what has become an annual tradition of prognostications, religious broadcaster Pat Robertson said Tuesday God has told him that a terrorist attack on the United States would result in "mass killing" late in 2007.

"I'm not necessarily saying it's going to be nuclear," he said during his news-and-talk television show "The 700 Club" on the Christian Broadcasting Network. "The Lord didn't say nuclear. But I do believe it will be something like that."

Robertson said God told him during a recent prayer retreat that major cities and possibly millions of people will be affected by the attack, which should take place sometime after September.

Robertson said God also told him that the U.S. only feigns friendship with Israel and that U.S. policies are pushing Israel toward "national suicide."

Robertson suggested in January 2006 that God punished then-Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon with a stroke for ceding Israeli-controlled land to the Palestinians.

Didn't he also predict the world would end in the 1980's? What a douchebag!

He predicted that all those christians who didn't believe in his armagedonic(sp?) views would be swallowed up by the earth in the 2nd coming because they were the spirit of the antichrist. This would supposedly happen in 2000 as "predicted" by him during the early years of the 700 Club. Still waiting.

He also condemned an entire Ohio town to eternal damnation. He's really off the deep end... how does this guy keep his followers. Or better yet :Where are his followers? I've got bridges in Brookñyn and whole deserts for sale.

Pat Robertson is the greatest "christian" personality out there. Who else is more entertaining to listen to. I think last year his prediction was a tsunami hitting the US coast. Good thing he is a horrible prophet. Of course all he has to be is right once, and then he will have legions of followers believing he is the next Apostle John or something. Maybe its the protein pancakes he eats. Apparently he can leg press 1,000 lbs

Oh no thats nothing. I remember when he said people who watched his show could be healed because he preached the true word of God. Thats like watching Benny Hinn on T.V. and the running around your house screaming "I'm saved I'm saved" the way some of my more fundi-family members do. .

If there is a god and he knows me. He knows I do enjoy commercial christianity.

"SAVED!" *Falls to the ground*

After spending “a wonderful time of prayer,” the Christian Coalition founder said, “The Lord had some very encouraging news for George Bush. What I heard [from God] was that Bush is now positioned to have victory after victory and that his second term is going to be one of triumph, which is pretty strong stuff.”

SNIP

Robertson also announced that the appearance of the Antichrist and the second coming of Jesus are not on the calendar this year. Although the Christian scriptures say no one knows the “day and hour” of Christ’s second coming, Robertson insisted “The end is not yet, because God has many more things to do. So people that say that Jesus is going to come tonight or that the Antichrist is going to be revealed tomorrow and so forth, that just isn’t going to happen.”

Robertson did not mention that his yearly Jan. 1 sit-down with the Lord often results in incorrect information. On Jan. 1, 1980, Robertson reported that God had told him that the Soviet Union would in that year invade several Middle Eastern nations, seize the world’s oil reserves and throw the United States and Western Europe into economic chaos, sparking worldwide conflict.

In 1981, Robertson predicted a global economic collapse between 1983 and 1985. He once predicted a Russian invasion of Israel and claimed that the USSR would collapse after the outbreak of a World War III.

Robertson’s predictions in more recent times have not fared much better. During his 2004 talk with God, the Almighty assured him that Bush would win reelection easily. Robertson reported that the race would be a “blowout.” In fact, Bush won narrowly by less than 3 percent.

W-w-w-wait, it gets even better:

Marion Gordon "Pat" Robertson is a false prophet which goes against the Bible's teachings:

Mat 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

2 Pet 2:1 [NIV] But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them--bringing swift destruction on themselves.
2 Pet 2:2 [NIV] Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute.
2 Pet 2:3 [NIV] In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.

Amen to that.

I wonder that if his prediction doesn't come rue if he'll take up the slack himself just so he doesn't have another embarrassing failed prediction.

Pat Robertson says a lot of inane things. Here's a list of predictions that he made for 2005...just for fun. :2razz:

I got this from... Media Matters - Robertson: God "will remove judges from the Supreme Court quickly"

Robertson's predictions for 2005:

The economy: "Again, 2005 is going to be a year of extraordinary prosperity for this nation and for CBN [Christian Broadcasting Network]. And I think the American stock market is going to surge upward, if I heard from the Lord. Again, ladies and gentlemen, don't go and buy stock on my recommendation, but that's what I feel in my heart. The Lord was saying it's going to be a super good year."

George W. Bush: "Well, the Lord has some very encouraging news for George Bush ... What I heard is that Bush is now positioned to have victory after victory and that his second term is going to be one of triumph, which is pretty strong stuff. ... He'll have Social Security reform passed. He'll have tax reform passed. He'll have conservative judges on the courts. And that basically he is positioned for a series of dramatic victories which I hope will hearten him and his advisers. They don't have to be timid in this matter because the wind is blowing at his back, and he can move forward boldly and get results."

Muslims and others turning to Jesus Christ: "In America, again if I'm hearing God right, we will see a tremendous incident of miracles in the year 2005. ... God's spirit is going to be moving in dramatic power around the world. And his spirit is going to be touching the hearts of many in the Muslim world and they will be turning to the gospel, to Jesus Christ. I think many of them already are, but this is going to be an acceleration that will really amaze the world. ... 'Revival will break out throughout the Muslim world, my [God's] truth will penetrate their hearts. The hold of that falsehood that has gripped them will be broken.'"

Terrorism and global security: "2005 will be another good year for the world. The terrorist threat will diminish. Nations will walk in peace, but it will be an illusion. The peril to Israel is greater now than it has ever been for she will be seduced into a false peace that will leave her vulnerable."

The Supreme Court: "The vendetta against religion in America is about to end. ... 'I [God] will remove judges from the Supreme Court quickly and their successors will refuse to sanction the attacks on religious faith.'"

Poor Pat but then you've got to say God has a terrific sense of humor and is the master of practical jokes.

I'm not sure about a sense of humor, but I know God loves Pat Robertson as much as He loves you and I. Clearly, Robertson says some wild things, but he isn't a bad person - he isn't a criminal for saying the things he does - or deserving of such disdain.

So you think that condemning a whole town to eternal damnation on television (just one example) is acceptable and Christian behavior?

No, I didn't say anything even remotely close to that. In fact, I said this:
Clearly, Robertson says some wild things
Flame bait someone else.

Cmon guys, he was right last year when he said a tsunami would devastate the Pacific Northwest.

Gosh I miss Seattle, it was such a nice city before it got swept away.:(

Then neither is Saddam Hussein.

Does anyone even take this guy seriously anymore, or have they ever for that matter?

He's off his rocker, and has been for some time now.

Then neither is Saddam Hussein.
You're more dense than I ever thought possible. Think real hard, dana, and try and think of the differences between Saddam Hussein and Pat Robertson. Here's a hint: Think about the mass graves.

So you're saying that, like Pat Robertson, Saddam Hussein wasn't a criminal either?

You defy logic, Dana. With friends like you, Saddam didn't need enemies.

The Evangelicals are distancing themselves from Pat lately, according to Fox:

FOXNews.com - Robertson Loses Seat on Christian TV Board - U.S. & World

You predict just one mass killing, and suddenly you're the loneliest guy at the bar.

For some reason there's a parallel thread in the Religion & Philosophy, but I'll say the same thing.

I think the man is a little insane and is probably now trying to reach out for publicity. Ah well. He isn't the only one out there, he's just the one with the most media coverage.

Insane is too soft. ****ing crazy is better. I'm still waiting for Jesus to come down so I can fall into the fires of hell.
