Sorry but when I read someone calling for the mass murder of 75 million people suggesting that their screen name is apt seems appropriate.

It was more a play on the poster's name than anything else spurred on by the call for genocide something that I cannot accept nor remain silent about under any circumstances.

Is there anything more despicable than someone putting themselves on the same level as a Saddam Hussein because the post that I replied to was written as if Saddam himself were speaking from the grave.

But sorry nonetheless.

Wrong, again...The mod was referring to a specific post that I wrote in this thread in reply to Cold Dirt's post that called for the nuclear destruction of Iraq and I commented that his screen name was eerily appropriate for the types of things he was writing.

I am a physicist and I thoroughly understand the nuclear fuel cycle. A cascade of one thousand centrifuges can process enough spent uranium byproduct material to yield enough HEU for one nuclear device per year. A typical centrifuge-cascade arcade for producing HEU (Pakistan, N.Korea et. al.) consists of between 3000 and 5000 units.

You must understand something Pete. A nuclear cascade-centrifuge system has one purpose and one purpose only... to produce weapons-grade fissile material. No one invests the time, the money, and the technical and material resources to construct a delicate cascade and then stop in mid-process. To do this would actually destroy the cascade because of the corrosive nature of process-byproducts always present in the system. These corrosive byproducts must be constantly evacuated to avoid a cascade-meltdown.

The assertion, that cascade-centrifuge systems are only there to produce weapons-grade fissile material is simply wrong. There are cascade-centrifuge systems for civil purposes running at this time. An example is the German enrichment facility in Gronau, which runs a cascade-centrifuge system and it supplies material for nuclear power plants, but it does not supply weapons-grade fissile material.

I meant to write Iran not Iraq...a mental typo since we all type Iraq so quickly.

Nevertheless for any civilized person to advocate the nuclear destruction of 75 million people under any circumstances is repulsive and in my book there aren't any plausible defenses that someone can write to justify the leveling of an entire nation, not to mention the side effects that would effect all the nations in the region and the entire world politically.

The mere fact that you consistently call for ultra violent solutions clearly defines your "politics" and it is a stance that I find reprehensible and revolting.

What is the most interesting is that you somehow tie machismo into genocide as if being what you perceive of manly makes genocide a viable option.

I think it’s a world that doesn’t want to see a terrorist supporting government with nuclear weapons. The same government that openly calls for the destruction of an entire country and its people. It’s not just the US, no one in the Middle East wants Iran to have nuclear weapons. They understand the dangers that it would only be a matter of time before Iran gave a weapon to one of its terrorists groups. They understand a nuclear Iran will destabilize the entire region.

If no one in the mid-east wants them to have weapons then if we are to disarm them we need their support as well as EU, Russia and China. You think Iraq is difficult, Iran will be much worse. If we are not to use nuclear weapons, it will be a long bloody war and success is questionable.

The world has tried, we have provided other options but Iran doesn’t want them.

Well then try again. See answer above, it will not be pretty. We certainly do not need to go at it alone and I would rather see them with weapons than the USA at war with them without world support. Think if the EU nations, the USA, Russia, other mid-east countries and China said "30 days to dismantle or WWIII will be declared on Iran" think they might listen? I have a feeling they might. The absolute racism in this thread sickens me. Let's consider a few things here shall we.....

1) In the six day war, the Soviet Union started a rumor about Israel. The rumor was that Israel was going to attack Syria. The result of this rumor was an Egyptian military movement of tanks towards Israel to show Arab solidarity. Furthermore, Egypt announced that the Straits of Tiran would be closed to "all ships flying Israeli flags." The result was an Israeli military measure to destroy Egypt's air power and to eventually address Syria.

Of course, many people like to only concern themselves with this history as if it started with the Isreali attack on Egypt. Attempts to show that the rumor was true just because Israel reacted to Egypts aggression and eventually attacked Syria is supposed to prove the rumor correct. (Even America and the Soviet Union used to travel the seas in what is called "Gator Squares" to avoid setting off an enemy reaction to aggression.)

2) The Battle of Jenin was quite a display of how unified human monsters and anit-Semites everywhere can be when there's a chance to bash Jews. It was a terrible dissapointment to people that the "massacre" at Jenin turned out to be a Palestinian hoax. Can anyone produce a German newspaper article that retracted any of their brutal articles that celebrated the "evils" of those Jews in Isreal before the UN revealed the truth?

And now we have a situation where the Israelis are being chastized for their protection measures. Are people this ignorant of the world or are they so consumed with shame, hate and resentment that they would surrender their integrity to lies, rumors, hoaxes, and basic survival tactics when it comes to Jews? Perhaps this sentiment that Israelis aren't supposed to protect themselves against tyranny will again spur up violence.

Being a U.S. Marine of 15 years, I can attest that our country has attack plans and defense plans for alomost every contingency. These plans do indeed include the use of nuclear weapons. Are people so stupid that they can't fathom that a defense plan against China doesn't have a nuclear index in the book? I guess we "plan to nuclear strike" Beijing. This is true for every nation of good sense in the world. Wherever there is a perceived threat the government in questions has the right and the duty to form a plan to protect its people.

I guess such things are an accepted truth of reality until we include a Jew into the equation. People around the globe, especially in Europe, seem to cling to a shred of hope that if they convince themselves that others are as loathsome now as some of them once so recently were that all of history will be forgotten. Explicit Arab calls for the massacre of Israelis are downplayed while Germans speak indignantly of Israeli "genocide" against Palestinians. Words of nation destruction and genocide by an Iranian leader on international television are downplayed while Europeans and Arabs everywhere stand back and scoff at an Israeli response to defend itself.

The truth is that many Europeans resent historical events not for what occurred, but for what did not. Many wish in vain that Germany had gotten to finish the job they set out to do (while America preserved the self-righteous French). No matter what Israelis do or fail to do, they will be blamed. Europeans, especially many Germans, need to believe that Israelis are every bit as bad as their own grandparents were when they murdered Jews all morning, sat down for lunch, played some cards, and then murdered Jews all afternoon.

What did the Germans do here? A German correspondent did some investigation about this article, called one of the experts who has been interviewed for this article by one of the authors of this article and came to the conclusion, that this article is simply wrong.

I expect the Iranian system to be more modern. The cascade-centrifuge system in Natanz consists of 164 centrifuges, this is not a reasonable number to produce weapon grade material and it's more for collecting experiences. The new Natanz plant which is being built at this time will have about 3000 centrifuges, this is theoretical sufficient to produce weapons-grade material for one weapon within one year.

As far as I know, the German plant in Gronau could be modified to produce weapons-grade material, if there would be an ok by the government.

Only like 4 to 5 % enrichment are needed to run a nuclear power plant, about 93 % is needed for a weapon.
