Well, if one takes the position that healthcare costs are part of an employee's compensation package, then one must also say that healthcare costs are, in actuality, paid for by the employee. So, then, the worst one could say is that employers are now forced to give their employees raises. I wonder how many employers with over 50 employees all working over 30 hours a week actually don't provide any kind of healthcare for them. It'd have to say they're in the minority, although I may be wrong.
Of course, those companies could, sans contract, just lower everyone's wages to cover the new cost of healthcare. Nothing saying they couldn't...
If you're getting mugged, it ain't liberals.
I dont have employees for excatly that reason, I prefer to work with business men and women. And you didnt answer the question.
Obama's Vagina Monologues and idiots who fear Creationists trumped Common Sense.

Please explain what you mean by popular vote? If you are suggesting Romney would have dismantled the law, one he had the senate to go through and two it depends on what time of the day you asked Romney.
What I do for a living really is none of your business... except it has had me travel the world fairly extensively, and not just travel, but live in a host of socialist nations. I've spent half my life on both sides of the pond. I don't speak about Parasite Nation out of theory, but experience... and Parasite Nation is a nightmare... but here is the catch...
When you know how to navigate through Parasite Nation... they lock out competition for you with their bureaucracy!!!
It favors those who are wealthy... and keeps those down that Parasite Nation claims they want to assist.
When it takes 2 to 7-years and 40 agencies to get something fairly straight forward done...you kill a lot of competition.
These experiences are partially why I turned from Socialist to Conservative, plus the stark difference doing business outside the US... though US states differ, and some US states are as hostile as the worst EU states; namely CA & FL.
Probably Central America.
Well than I guess that makes two of us now doesn't it.
That's because in your threads or with pretty much anything you say, there's nothing to debate.
Your views are based on a fictional universe that exists only within your own mind, you don't live in reality you live in a partisan fantasy universe where the Dunning-Kruger Effect is in full swing with you.
Politically you are utterly incompetent.
No how about you do that.
For years I have read your tripe on this forum that has almost 9/10 been devoid of any factual relevancy related to our living universe.
Latin America is riddled with the situations you've described and because it worked so well there it seems many Americans have decided to import the Napoleonic system. But Latinos have learned it is next to impossible to change the system back to freedom once it is in place, so they've leave.
The next question is where will more Americans go when they discover what's happened to their country? Probably Central America.
I have worked in health care too long to believe we do not need some kind of national health care policy for people who work but can't get insurance through their employers. A a national policy that they could purchase at a reasonable price would have been better than laying it onto the backs of small business. This maneuver alone makes it abundantly clear that Obama does not understand that commerce is the foundation of the American economy. Or that he does understand it and wants to destroy it. Take you pick. Those of us who have any sense knew electing Obama would be a disaster for this country.
That's not going to happen.
Actually he would have delayed or disrupted implimentation via excutive order. Theres lots of things he could have done. Popular vote ie government and "duly elected officials". Something like that should not be passed on a bare majority, but a clear majority via constitutional amendment or 2/3s vote in congress instead its 50% plus one. You wonder why theres a bunch of fighting its because theres a bunch of people who HATE this law and they number nearly as many as who do. You shouldnt push any kind of law that way. The reason why not is easy enough to see around you.

Canada--they have oil and we won't need to learn to speak French because we don't plan on listening to them anyway.
You are basically claiming that those who voted for Obama have no sense is a bit arrogant of you. When people disagree with you, it is simply a disagreement, not a matter of who has more sense. You are not an expert on national health care and how it effects the economy. Many economists say the health care bill will lower health care costs and better the economy over all. People are being reactionary because their guy didn't win, so they want to punish their employes for it now rather than waiting to see how the health care bill will really effect their business.
It is a misunderstanding of the benefits of the law as to why several are against it. There is a woman at my work that hates Obama and politics in general but yesterday she was explaining how United Healthcare sent her a thing in the mail saying she wouldn't have to pay co-pays anymore on preventive things such as Pap smears and breast exams come January 1st. In fact our insurance company strongly suggested she do it because if they find something early on the insurance pays for more. I have yet to receive the letter but she also said it said something about prostate exams. She thought it was United Healthcares doing of course it is the Affordable Healthcare Act. You have to take the good with the bad. The healthcare laws aren't perfect, but the net result is beneficial to everyone.

I understand how our healthcare came to rest on the shoulders of business, but, and this may be naive, why does it have to stay on business? Wouldn't health coverage, offered by the government and not employers, be a better thing?
I ask this question somewhat timidly. It just seems that most 1st world countries don't saddle their country's businesses with providing health coverage and it's an advantage for them in competing against U.S. corporations. I'm only asking, not making a statement. It's a question I've been pondering since the ACA was put in place.
*standing back to await a potential bashing*
You don't know me. You do NOT know me. You have no clue where my areas of expertise lie, and to pretend that you do is the height of arrogance!
There is something to be said for a system that doesn't have to make a profit. But most state hospitals are abominable. No one likes the V A hospitals, but just let someone make noises about changing the system and those veterans organizations swing into action and prevent it. I'd say your post is a draw. 50:50. Hardly worth any bashing.
A day after Barack Obama earned a second term in the White House, Papa John's founder and CEO John Schnatter said the president's signature health-care reform law would increase his business costs and possibly result in employees' hours being cut.
Schnatter, a part-time Naples resident, made the comments Wednesday night inside a small auditorium at Edison State College's Collier County campus. In August, he made national headlines after telling shareholders the Affordable Care Act — commonly known as Obamacare — would result in a 10- to 14-cent increase for customers buying a pizza.
"I got in a bunch of trouble for this," he told the students. "That's what you do, is you pass on costs. Unfortunately, I don't think people know what they're going to pay for this."...
Under the Affordable Care Act, full-time employees — those working 30 hours or more per week — would have to be provided with insurance at companies with more than 50 workers. Schnatter said it was likely that some franchise owners would reduce employees' hours in order to avoid having to cover them.
"That's probably what's going to happen," he said. "It's common sense. That's what I call lose-lose."
This thread (and all the others to follow) is dedicated to the Golden Goose Liberals out there who truly honestly believe that it does not matter what burden you put on business, they will keep on magically producing jobs and tax revenue.
Most Canadians have not bothered to learn French either and there is plenty of oil many of us would prefer to export to the US rather than China.
Mitt had some very good ideas in his energy programs, I thought, but America has decided to Go Green in a very serious way. It must the Rousseauian, back to nature, noble savage, influence coming from people who can't live without electricity or energy but somehow believe it gets to their home quite naturally, without trees, birds or animals being at all disturbed.
