The 1918 influenza pandemic killed more than 675,000 Americans, but President Woodrow Wilson never made a single public statement about it. Why? Here’s what happens when efforts to promote patriotism and suppress free speech collide with a deadly virus.

Video about pandemic & politics.
Didn't watch the video.

This is a no-brainer. Back in Wilson's day, people had more of a self-sufficient attitude. Nowadays, EVERYONE wants the government to "DO SOMETHING!!". Add to that the opposition fueling the outrage and the result is nothing but political pandemic propaganda porn.

So, which is worse? A president who just ignores a pandemic or the one we have now that continually lies about it?

I am so bored of conversations trying to place blame for the pandemic.

Oh yes how dare people expect the government to do more than they did in 1918, it's not like we've had 100 years of unprecedented technological and social progress in that time.

Here's a thought, if the idea of social programs and government intervention are so appalling to you there are a few uninhabited small islands off the British coast you can move to and live your self-sufficient, fantasy lifestyle. Have fun with that.

You're right. And you continue your unbroken streak for non-use of your brain. Local and state governments did use aggressive measures of quarantine and shut downs including churches:

Well, that's completely understandable for people who continue to support the Dirtbag Failure of a "president" who's mismanaged and constantly lied to the American people about the risk of this disease and whose lack of leadership has, without a doubt, caused many unnecessary deaths. But, as he said, those deaths were really "nobodies" to him.

Ummm, we have a President that does Both, sounds really strange but that is the case, heck if he had his way no one would ever bring it up again.

I was commenting on the OP's lament about propaganda...not about what the government did back then.
