The Palm Springs City Council voted unanimously Thursday to provide $200,000 to two local organizations that are aiming to launch a pilot basic income program that would provide money to transgender and non-binary residents.

However, they stopped short of agreeing to provide the much larger sum of as much as $900,000 that leaders of the organizations behind the project say would likely be required for the project to ultimately go forward, and expressed reservations about doing so in the future.
Please note that the UBI is not based on economic need or ability to earn a living. It's not based on race or gender. It's based ONLY on gender identity.

With all the other ****ed up stuff going on in the world THIS is what the city feels a need to focus on?

Why don’t we give every mentally compromised knot-head a monthly stipend?

Don't you know? Money fixes everything!!

If you, as a city council, give enough money to enough charities you'll never lose an election and THAT is the only logical reason behind this. $200k to buy 20 guaranteed votes? It's a drop in the bucket! If they all vote Democrat then the program can be expanded to the other 50,000 residents.

You should look up the theory of Biological Lenninism. The left needs people who are less deserving than the average to make up their electoral coalition.

The people with this condition in their head would be nobody in a sane society and deep down they know they need in patient help. But because the left can use them for power purposes they’re put in a pedestal and given privileges

I mean until the day that the Dollar is shuffled out as the global hard currency, when that day comes America will fall harder then Argentina and what will happen to society when all these patronage payments stop coming? That’s a terrifying question, because the answer is clear, and that’s something we should be preparing for.,

It's a ridiculous waste of woke money, by the woke, to the woke, for woke purposes.

Meanwhile, on the other side of town: Palm Springs Residents Sound Off on Homelessness
One of the convenience stores up the street from me seems to have come up with a rather novel plan to combat the negative effects of homelessness on their property.

For the past few years there has been a regular homeless issue at their location. People sleeping next to their doors, in their parking lot and on the sidewalk in front of the store. There was a constant stream of petty theft and wrecked restrooms.

Their solution? They got rid of the picnic tables in front of the store. Almost immediately the homeless population for nearly a mile around pretty much vanished.

Eh, this is a little weird. But it what the headline doesn't mention is it is only 20 people receiving the payments to compare to 20 people who don't as an experiment to see the effects of implementing these UBI type programs.
At the meeting, Queer Works Chief Executive Jacob Rostovsky said the program would provide monthly payments of $600 to $900 to 20 participants who identify as transgender or nonbinary. Another 20 participants would serve as a control group and receive social services that are built into the program, but not the monthly payments. (Source)

This is part of a broader $35,000,000 set aside in state funding for experiments with implementing UBI. The $200,000 was given to a LGBTQ advocacy to see if there are any specific benefits to UBI for some of the issues they are trying to solve.

IMHO, the linked article saved the best for last:

When asked if the $200,000 would end up being a waste if the city did not agree to pay the $900,000 that would likely be needed to start the program, Rostovsky said he did not.

"This model and this program could be used for something DAP wants to do or something Queer Works wants to do," he said. "It's not wasted time or wasted money, something will come out of this proposal if for some reason we don't move forward with guaranteed basic income."

Don’t you dare worry about how we will spend this extra $200K, we’ll spend it all on something. ;)

That's how gov't agencies work, especially at the federal level.

If they don't spend all the money in the budget, they can't ask for more next year. Therefore, it ALL has to be spent on something.

Hmm… $600/month UBI for 20 people is $144K/year and $900/month UBI for 20 people is $216K/year. That leaves little (or nothing) for funding any other ‘social services’ parts of the program.

Not one I fully buy into but an interesting read.
Jesus Christ my dude I hope you don't fully buy into this.
Socialism though promised to change that, and Marx showed they had a good plan. Lenin then put that plan to work in practice. What did Lenin do? Exterminate the natural aristocracy of Russia, and build a ruling class with a bunch of low-status people. Workers, peasants, Jews, Latvians, Ukrainians.
The early Soviet Union promoted minorities, women, sexual deviants, atheists, cultists and every kind of weirdo. Everybody but intelligent, conservative Russians of good families.
The point again is, that you can't run a tight, cohesive ruling class with white men. They don't need to be loyal. They'll do ok anyway. A much easier way to run an obedient, loyal party is to recruit everyone else. Women. Blacks. Gays. Muslims. Transexuals. Pedophiles. Those people may be very high performers individually, but in a natural society ruled by its core of high performers, i.e. a white patriarchy, they wouldn't have very high status.
I'm not even kidding, Mien Kampf is a less openly bigoted read than the article you linked.

It is almost comically horrific.
There’s a reason why there’s so many evil fat women in government. Where else would they be if government didn’t want them? They have nothing going on for them, except their membership in the Democratic party machine. The party gives them all they have; the same way the Communist party had given everything to that average peasant kid who became a middling bureaucrat in Moscow. And don’t even get me started with hostile Muslims or Transexuals.

He uses a lot of language I don’t agree with and makes some reaching conclusions, but I think the general concept that the left exists by offering patronage to groups that can’t get power themselves and depending on that loyalty is very true. You really can’t deny that.

Many of the dark enlightenment types believe in racial narratives and biological determinism, philosophies I do not espouse or agree with, but that said, it’s like reading the philosophy of Marx, you can draw some things from it even if you reject some core premises

It's California. They find new, kooky ways of burning taxpayer money.

That's because the money requested does not go to any transgender people.....yet

Read what it is used for
So is it for poor people or not? Come on! You made the assertion now back it up!

I linked to the proposal. There is NOTHING in there that talks about income as an eligibility factor. The ONLY factor being considered is gender identity and the proposal EXPRESSLY STATES that other factors will not be considered.

Our MGIP will be a monthly, cash payment given directly to individuals in Palm Springs
who identify as transgender or nonbinary (TGNB). The payments will come without the
conditions, both socially and physically, that are often put on to the TGNB community.
These conditions, such as legal status, job history and education requirements, often
block them from accessing other social welfare programs and sources of supplemental
income. Participants will have a chance to apply and be selected at random. Those who
do not receive the income supplement will still be given the tools and skills to learn how
to access a vast amount of safe and affirming resources throughout Palm Springs
Look, I understand that you have an agenda to drive home here but in doing so it's a good idea to stick to the facts of the situation...unless you're one of those people that identifies as "fact non-conforming".

He fully buys into this. Hes just lying about the natural aristocracy, putting his preferences in place of science. He knows he cant prove it.

He also stupidly believes the peasants were tricked by the bourgeoisie to rebel against their natural masters which is pure fantasy. They just wanted the commons to be….. well the commons instead of property of the king and lords.

Its the same myths the slavers created to blame some outside force for tricking black people into fighting for liberation.

None of that 200,000 goes to trans people

That is just to set up the program

You did not even read it. Lol

I get that. I even posted that information in the OP. The proposal, however, IS to give this money to transgenders. It's actually part of a State based program to find new and interesting reasons to give people free money...that they take from other people.
