The Pakistani journalist Ahmed Rashid has told the BBC of his disappointment that parts of his work appear to have been plagiarised by President Bush.

Did Bush steal someone else's intellectual property, and use it in his book? If so, then this is not a good example of a "decision point", is it?

In other news, Bush admitted to stealing the idea of waterboarding from a convicted Japanese war criminal.

Article is here.

I will not attempt to defend President Bush because I used to bash him regularly, but having been in the news business and in Radio for many years there are a few things I know to be true.

One is there is just about no chance that President Bush wrote more than a small fraction of this book.

Next it is near impossible to write or even talk about any event that ever been talked about or written about by more than one person and not use at least similar words and phrases.

Go to several news organizations websites and read any story on the same subject, that is not from AP, but attributed to the the writer alone and you will find they use similar words and phases.

If you read and article or story and then post here chances are you are are going to borrow from what you read whether consciously or not, it happens.

I learned many many years ago that there are 7 basic literary plots, and all plays and movies are based on variations of those 7 plots, making it impossible for one not to resemble another from time to time, or even, use the same words and phrases.

It happens in music as well.

If the writers of President Bush's book took portions of the works of others word for word, I say take it to Court, unless you're just making the claim in an attempt to discredit the former President, and in that case I would have to say get in line, Obama is at the front of the line and has been for nearly 3 years.

Perhaps this Pakistani "journalist" should be more "disappointed" that his/her (are women allowed to be journalists in Pakistan?) country is about to execute a Christian for speaking badly of Sponge Mohammed Square Pants.

I call bullsh on this.

incredibly on point.

he's kenyan, it has to be his fault.

He's not just Kenyan... He's:

Socialist
Communist
Marxist
Black Liberation Theologian (still my favourite)
Anti-Colonialist
Fascist  (how can you call someone a marxist, a socialist and then a fascist... something is fishy here)

And many more.

You know, I really do wonder if the Right Wing will ever decide what to call him :rofl

All the right wingers will call him names until he changes his party affiliation to republican, and even then he isn't likely to ever be accepted. Name calling of our president has to be the most petty and ignorant thing one can do, but it happens a lot here.
