'Painless death' or 'precipitous cliff'? Transsexual chooses euthanasia after failed operation - World News

Beyond the fact that the person was a transsexual . Is it right to allow euthanasia for mental trauma Im on the fence for this one . On one hand it was someone who was 44 years old not dying of a terminal illness . On the other the person could have committed suicide . and on the site it said "in a study Last week the Dutch government released figures showing that in 2012 there were 4,188 cases of euthanasia or assisted suicide, or almost 1 in 30 deaths, while in 2011 there were 3,695 such cases – a yearly jump of 13 percent. Most of these were by lethal injection and the majority were lethal injections given to patients in their homes." Their was a increase in euthanasia any constructive op welcomed .

I personally have a problem with this. If someone is of sound enough mind to want to die (which is what this type of case appears to be), then he/she should do it themselves rather that trying to place the responsibility on someone else to do it for him.

Let them, one less drag on society.

An OP which combines a philosophical discussion of assisted suicide with the unrelated emotion laden topic of a failed transsexual operation will probably ensure a plethora of less than optimum responses to either topic on this thread. One wonders which topic to address and which to ignore.

If someone is willing and able to do the job and the individual is willing to pay, then I don't see the problem.

My position on euthanasia boils down to this: You have sovereignty over your own body and your own life.

Let them, one less drag on society.

Not that you'd let anyone else make a life or death determination like this for yourself, but you'd gladly do it for other people.

They tried to treat an emotional disorder with knives first.

When that failed, they used poison.

Euthanasia is not illegal in the Netherlands. It shouldn't be illegal anywhere. If an adult of sound mind has made the informed decision that he/she wishes to die without leaving a bloated or bleeding corpse for relatives to deal with, and there are physicians/others willing to accommodate that wish, then I see nothing wrong with it.

I don't see what the youth in Asia have to do with this.
