With just over a year to go until the 2024 elections, Republicans are beginning to realize that the abortion issue won't just go away. The GOP has faced a political quandary ever since Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health, the 2022 Supreme Court decision that overturned Roe v. Wade, opened the door to abortion bans, which red states started to enact immediately. On one hand, abortion bans are wildly unpopular, and have only gotten more so as we hear horror stories about women being seriously injured or forced to carry dying babies to term. On the other hand, Republicans don't want to just give up on their long-standing dream of using forced childbirth to punish women for having sex.

To square this impossible circle, Republicans have relied on their favorite strategy: Relentless dishonesty. Lots of pseudo-compassionate noises about women's pain, while insisting that their sadistic impulses are "pro-life." They pretend to support hypothetical exceptions to abortion bans, which for the most part do not apply in actual reality. They make weak attempts to rebrand their agenda as "pro-baby." They feign support for contraception access while supporting organizations that actively work to demolish viable birth control.

Ladies, if you want to continue having access to birth control, don't vote for repugs. They want to ban it nationwide. Men, birth control may wind up as only condoms if the repugs get elected. Having sex with a condom is like making love in a rain coat.

It’s idiots such as yourself on both sides of the aisle who continue to spew unsubstantiated claims of harm done by legislation you don’t agree with. Personally, I don’t think government has a right to decide what’s right for another’s body. But I’m sick of hearing you whiney fear mongers.
 
I'm for personal freedom to choose your options in life. The repugs want to take away your freedom of choice. They should all be in prison.

So, you oppose laws restricting the right of women to control their own bodies, but you're okay with the Republicans enacting those restrictions because of "cancel culture" from the other side?

Why are the repugs in our bedrooms? To get evangs votes? After abortion they want to go after contraception. Our repug future: your choice of either the Catholic rhythym method (called becoming a parent) or condoms. Get the righties out of our bedroom please.
 
Let me reiterate, I said I didn’t approve of the government telling you what you can do with your body. By the way, using the term “repugs” doesn’t enhance your IQ in any way. It sounds juvenile.

A weak argument. If women are so weak as to have sex with a needy man then when they don't want to then that is their problem.
 
As a libertarian, I want the govt. Out of my wallet, Out of my bedroom, and Out of my gun cabinet. My vote will go to the candidate who gets it Wrong on the Fewest of these issues.
