Oval Office rug gets history wrong

You're a funny guy. You complain about threads that are pointless, yet I only ever see you in threads where you are lamenting how stupid the thread is.

It's not my fault if you haven't been paying attention.

If you really were concerned with such, you wouldn't help the threads by posting in them, and further you'd start "quality threads". Something I don't see you spending a lot of time doing.

Nope, I spend most of my time going at it with people I disagree with. That's what I like to do, so that's what I do.

What do you think she should have gotten since you care so much for the Royal Family? I could care less what she was given but it must bother you.

It was stupid and made us look bad. I think its hysterical you believe if you don't support the gift you are some fanatical Queen supporter. That's rich dude.

Give her an antique, something from the country's history. Not an ipod for God's sake lol

Really? Even if she likes the ipod? Let me ask a question. If I should ever go to Australia, should I give an ipod as a gift, or something from the country's history, such as the petrified remains of an aborigine campfire?

An antique? How many antiques do you think they already have stored away in the worthless crap warehouse at the palace? My god, she is an antique.
Too funny.
But we sure wouldn't want to offend the blue bloods.....

It's not like a boo boo made by Glenn Beck that doesn't amount to a hill of beans. This is on a Pesidential Rug in the Oval Office.
Can't say I'm surprised at the choices of FDR and T. Roosevelt either.

It is a rug that President Obama will probably take with him when he leaves office. Who cares what is on it. Plus even if you disagree with FDR is he ranked as one of the favorite American Presidents so why not put him on the rug?

washingtonpost.com

They must use the same fact checkers as Vanity Fair.

It's not that.... the Obama Administration needed a quote from King to fill their racial quota and we all know the Democrats don't want people repeating "people should be judged on the content of their character, not the color of their skin". I mean, their Race Card is already maxed out, they don't want people becoming any less racist than they already are. What would happen if certain Americans started associating their poverty with their president's actions and stopped believing that Obama was a real "brother"?

what a HUGE transgression
very threadworthy [/s]

Also, every damn quote was picked as a political semaphore.

“The Only Thing We Have to Fear is Fear Itself” – President Franklin D. Roosevelt
Spoken as FDR led the way to make the Depression worse and longer. The similarities to the current occupant of the Oval Office can't be ignored.

The people choosing the quote had something entirely different in mind.

“The Arc of the Moral Universe is Long, But it Bends Towards Justice” – Martin Luther King, Jr.
As I stated, King was quoted to establish racial balance on the floor. The only black speaker, the only non-president, and the quote is something almost no one in the general public would associate with King. I would have attributed it to Mao or Confucius.

“Government of the People, By the People, For the People” – President Abraham Lincoln
But, to make things PERFECTLY CLEAR, Lincoln was NOT socialist. He did not believe government should be doing things FOR the people.

“No Problem of Human Destiny is Beyond Human Beings” – President John F. Kennedy
Another obscure quote no one in the general population would recognize. Can you imagine the Socialist Obama putting JFK's most famous quote on his rug? What would he be telling people if the words "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask rather what you can do for your country"? No, he can't have any of that.

“The Welfare of Each of Us is Dependent Fundamentally Upon the Welfare of All of Us” – President Theodore Roosevelt

Which is to say, to quote another famous person, "a rising tide lifts all boats".

Hmmmm....I'm betting Obama didn't expect that, I'm betting the socialist thought it was cute to have the words "welfare" to walk on.

Sort of like how conservatives don't give a **** about anything beyond their ideology?

Oh, wait, that's practically everybody these days!

Oh! And Liberals give a **** about anything beyond their ideology? If that was so, they would wash their hands of Obama's agenda.

Wow, you just rephrased the second half of my post and then acted like you scored points on me.

That's comedy!

At least we don't have to wonder why the majority of Americans don't even pay attention to politics.

Seeing the quotes now I think they are actually pretty good quotes. Most of them are fairly well known.

I guess that proves that if a rug will lie about small things, it will lie on anything.

You could be right. Its all politics and few actions are taken without considering the political angles. In the case of the King "misquote" somebody just dropped the ball.

And to compound things a little more, the true owner of the quote (Theodore Parker) was a friggin' honky!! So now everything is messed up with the damn rug!

Somebody in the WH gonna get the smackdown for this screwup.....:)

.

It's not some one telling people what to think based on lies, it's a damned rug. See how easy it is to make stupid comparisons?

Seriously people, it's a rug. It's job is to lie on the floor. On the list of things important, this is not even on it. It's a rug. Bitching about this is not going to go well.

I don't really think it's a big deal either, but I'd bet dollars to dirt that if Bush had made a similar error, it would be the top story for at least a week's news cycle.

All Along the Watchtower was a Bob Dylan song, HENDRIX LIED!

Would have a point if Hendrix had attributed the composition of the song to himself rather than blatantly crediting it as a cover.

Hendrix did sing that song. King did say those words. The real point I'm trying to make is NONE OF THIS IS AT ALL IMPORTANT TO ANYTHING

Except to show that the Thug in Chief can't even create a national heirloom of his presidency without ****ing something up.

Is it important to the grand scheme of things? No.

Is it a humorous example of the carelessness and misinformed legacy of his presidency? Absolutely.

Seriously? A quote said by someone, than repeated by King and you think this is an actual thing to be upset about? Some people will look for anything to be upset about I guess.

If this had been GW Bush you'd have been all over him for it. Anybody remember a spelling incident with a vice president? Dan Quayle was his name and all he did was add an e to the end of potato. The libtards ran him out of office for it.
You people don't control all of the presses anymore and it burns your ass.
