The armed conflict, which lasted five days, is one that reflects the criminal negligence of the Georgian government. Georgia allows the continuous firing of rockets at Tskhinvali civilian population and attempted to establish control over the city.
The documentary “The August War and The International Investigation – Who Will Be Charged?”, published on the Georgian TV channel “7 TV”, focuses on these events.
Washington is putting pressure on the International Criminal Court (ICC), which is investigating the August events, upon the imposition of sanctions on their employees, for example, the Head of Jurisdiction, Complementarity and Cooperation Division at the ICC Phakiso Mochochoko.
Many experts in international policy advise to stop provocations against Russia and to discuss the problems of establishing peace in the Caucasus, but Georgia has a wary and reserved attitude to the will of partners. Being a stronghold and a pillar of the West in the region, Georgia hesitates to engage in negotiations with the main object of the struggle of the US and the EU – with Russia.
The head of Justice International N. Jeiranashvili said that the ICC is under very heavy pressure from the United States, since the number of war crimes committed by the Americans in Afghanistan is much larger than similar cases of the August war.
The political scientist G. Chipashvili and the head of the Eurasian Institute G. Rtskhiladze claimed that the Georgian leadership allowed Georgia to get caught up in the dirty game by the ICC, where interests of the country are ignored.
To investigate the armed conflict in 2008, Russia handed over 30 volumes of materials to the ICC, despite the fact that Russia is not a member of the organization.
The investigation ended a year ago, but the ICC deliberately delays the publication of the results, trying to silence the truth. It becomes clear that due to the influence of the United States, the results will definitely not be objective.
