'Out for long time': Trump tweets as US shutdown sets new record

Donald J. Trump ✔
@realDonaldTrump
We have a massive Humanitarian Crisis at our Southern Border.
We will be out for a long time unless the Democrats come back
from their “vacations” and get back to work. I am in the White House ready to sign!
10:14 AM - Jan 12, 2019

Then instruct McConnell to allow the US Senate to vote on the 6 funding CRs that the US House passed on January 4. Then sign the 6 passed CRs.

That would restore funding to the 9 federal departments currently on shutdown and allow the 800,000+ furloughed federal employees to resume working at their jobs.

The rub here is that Trump and McConnell won't allow a US Senate vote on the 6 CRS passed by the US House because doing so would remove the federal worker hostages they are holding until their ransom of $5.6 billion is satisfied.

Both Trump and McConnell realize that a point will come when both Congressional chambers would vote to over-ride a presidential veto and get the government funded again.

But that scenario cannot happen with McConnell refusing to allow a vote and having Trump placed in a position of refusing to sign passed Congressional legislation to at least fund 9 government departments.

Furloughed federal workers .... McConnell considers your paychecks with $0.00 on them a necessary evil to protect Trump from outing himself.

No.
Tell the House to start cooperating and negotiating instead.

Why should the House get what they want without cooperating and compromising with what the President wants?
They are in no position to make demands.
The only position they can take is one of cooperation with the other parties.

McConnell has been running very silent....nobody seems to have any evidenced insight on what he is up to....all such talk is speculation.

Trump on the other hand is an open book.

No.

Congress isn't supposed to cooperate with the President. That's not how the framers designed it. If anything it's supposed to be the other 'way round. The President is supposed to do what Congress tells him.
That's why they legislate and he executes.

Now that the shutdown has gone past twenty days, even CEO's, members of Congress and big business muckety mucks are going to be affected. TSA Pre-check will start to shut down, and that means flying is about to become a much bigger hassle for people that the Republicans seem to be beholden to.

Employers who are bound to e-Verify are unable to hire because e-Verify is not operational. Food wholesalers are unable to get FDA inspections, thus are increasingly liable if disease vectors are indicated in their stocks.

Even White House staff are furloughed, and the White House has failed to pay its water bill.

Wrong.
This is how it works.
Other way around? iLOL No.

They all need to cooperate, which I keep telling you they are responsible for not doing.

Apparently a majority of DP members don't even believe in politics at all, really.
The notion that Congress is supposed to be merely a rubber stamp that follows the commands of the tyrant in chief without question is ludicrous. We're no longer "debating politics" at that point, just talking about how obedient or disobedient the subjects are, and that includes the well paid subjects in the Capitol Building.

Apparently a sizeable portion of DP members want some kind of absolute monarchy.

What do they want? What demands are they making? What aren't they negotiating about?

See, that's the problem. Trump is the one who is not negotiating. He is the one demanding. He has not offered anything in exchange for $5.7B for the wall. It's been "gimme the money for the wall or the government will stay shutdown".

That's not negotiation, that's extortion.

I think Trump is looking for an excuse to move to one of these two accommodations........

No it is not extortion.
It is what has been going on for ages.
The President puts on the table what he wants and they name what they want in order for him to get what he wants.

Trump holding 800,000 federal employees hostage until he gets what he wants is not something we "cooperate" with.

He's not offering the House anything other than stopping the shutdown that he started just to extort money.

He is a terrorist. Boasting about how much suffering he is willing to cause if he doesn't get what he wants. And he wants money he promised that taxpayers would not have to pay.

When you pay a ransom demand to a kidnapper that is not "cooperating".

You are speaking nonsense as they are all responsible for the shutdown. Not just the President.

Trump is a terrorist.

Even many who voted for him now see this. They didn't vote for him to screw them. Now they see him promising to keep raping them for an indefinite period of time if he doesn't get the money that he promised them they would never have to pay.

You are speaking nonsense as they are all responsible for the shutdown. Not just the President.

Democrats in the House and the Senate have voted to reopen the government.

Trump is the one keeping it closed until he gets money from the taxpayers that he promised we would never have to pay.

McConnell has enough votes in the Senate to reopen the government. But he won't put the legislation to a vote because he won't hand over something Trump has promised to veto.

Trump is the one keeping the government closed until Democrats give him what he wants. He's not offering Democrats anything, and he promised America he wouldn't ask for this money.

You are shamelessly defending an evil man who doesn't care how many people he hurts to get the money that he promised he would never ask for.

No he is not.

He is.

And you are pro-terrorist.

Pro-extortion to get whatever someone wants, no matter how much pain it causes, no matter that they have no right to it.

No it is not extortion.
It is what has been going on for ages.
The President puts on the table what he wants and they name what they want in order for him to get what he wants.

Extortion: the practice of obtaining something {money for the wall}, especially money, through force or threats {or the government stays shutdown}.

100%.

Democrats in the House and the Senate have voted to reopen the government.
:lamo
Irrelevant. They do not get to unanimously decide what happens.

Trump is the one keeping it closed
The Dems are too.
As I keep saying - they all have their responsibility here.

that he promised we would never have to pay.
iLOL Really? Please quote this promise.

McConnell has enough votes in the Senate to reopen the government. But he won't put the legislation to a vote because he won't hand over something Trump has promised to veto.
Which is a sensible position to take.
So start cooperating on something that will be signed.

Trump is the one keeping the government closed until Democrats give him what he wants.
Wrong they all are by not cooperating.

He's not offering Democrats anything,
It is not his job to offer them anything other than what he wants.
It is their job to offer what they want and then for the sides to cooperate.
Nancy saying no any money for the barrier/wall is them not cooperating to get anything they may want.
But for the House Republicans, they are all responsible here.

and he promised America he wouldn't ask for this money. .
You do not know what you are talking about, do you?

You are shamelessly defending an evil many who doesn't care how many people he hurts to get the money that he promised he would never ask for.
:lamo Spare me your uneducated opinion. They are all responsible for not cooperating.

Wrong.

And you are pro-terrorist.
Wrong as usual.

No it is not extortion.
It is what has been going on for ages.
The President puts on the table what he wants and they name what they want in order for him to get what he wants.

So you think the president is king and congress is there to only serve the president, got it. Unless of course it is a dem president and then you are ok with congress not giving the president what he wants.

No.
Tell the House to start cooperating and negotiating instead.

Why should the House get what they want without cooperating and compromising with what the President wants?
They are in no position to make demands.
The only position they can take is one of cooperation with the other parties.
Because theirs is the power of the purse ...

That's perhaps the scariest of all.

Extortion: the practice of obtaining something {money for the wall}, especially money, through force or threats {or the government stays shutdown}.

100%.
Yeah (iLOL) no. Extortion covers that which is actual extortion, not that which is part and parcel of negotiations.

So you think the president is king and congress is there to only serve the president, got it.
Why are you creating a fiction to argue?
Did I say such nonsense or did I perhaps say I they are all responsible for not cooperating?

Unless of course it is a dem president and then you are ok with congress not giving the president what he wants.
Do you always create fictions to argue?

Because theirs is the power of the purse ...
Really? :looksatyousideways: Really? :lamo
That is not a reason why the should House get what they want without cooperating and compromising.

You cons supported the senate and the house attacking the president and fighting against everything obama did so don’t give me the “boo hoo” sorry trump Doesn’t get his wall he said Mexico would pay for anyways. Go pound sand con and you guys are going to lose big in 2020 because of trumps and McConnell’s actions. :lamo

They think electing a dictator every four years is how it's supposed to work.
I was taught that the US isn't a nation in the sense that England or France is a nation, that the US is a group of united states under the umbrella of a Congress elected to govern them, and that the President is elected by the states to execute the decisions of the Congress.
All this crap about shutting down the government and declaring a national emergency is just using loopholes put in place long after the framers designed the US government as a way to get around the limits of Presidential power intended by the founders.
Hell, Thomas Jefferson, if he saw this happening, would say dissolve the Union and start over. No way would the founders approve a President defying and dictating to the duly-elected Congress like this.

edit- I highlighted the nuts of this post. The rest is just me indulging my wordy inclination.

Congratulations on saying nothing of import. It was expected.
Now, do you have anything to that which I said in regards to the topic in reply to you?
