so i was surprised to hear him say this on the radio today, but he believes that unless the Iraqi's stand up big time, in the near term, there is no hope for victory no matter how long we stay
while the guerilla tactics being employed in Iraq will never defeat us, it makes it all but impossible to actually defeat them

as O'Reilly likes to say
"What Say You?"

no link because it was a radio remark

LOL.... This is what I have been saying since I returned from my first 1 year tour of duty over there in early 2003-2004.
It has taken the rest of the media how long to catch up with the lowly yet observant enlisted troops eh?

Seriously, I don't mean to gawk and act like some sort of an idiot, so I'll just say this.
Regardless of how long it took them to figure out that the Iraqi people might not be motivated as of yet to have a united country under a democratic leadership with the means and will to defend themselves, I am at least glad that not only conservative media hounds, but also conservative politicians, and possibly even the President himself are beginning to see what was obvious to so many of us who have been there for longer than a week or a day. I have been saying for along time that we need to start putting the pressure on Iraq to step up, instead of letting them think that we will always be there for them. I understand that nobody wants to "cut and run", but we can't just sit around saying we will be there until they are ready to take over, because they have shown very little progress in getting ready. If we put more pressure on them, start turning over responsibility to them at set deadlines instead of, "When they are ready", just maybe the will realize that thier good friends the US of A won't be around forever.

Maybe, just maybe they will find the motivation to step it up, or at least split themselves into 3 different nations.
