Only in Illinois do we send one politician (Blago) to prison for 14 years for "attempted" extortion. All the while Jesse Jackson Jr., is found GUILTY of freaking GRAND LARCENY(of course that's not what they call it in the press for politicians, but that's what it is) to the tune of $750,000 dollars (and note, this is only what he was caught for) only gets 30 months!?!?!?!?!?!

Un-freaking-believable...

I really got to find a new state to live in...

You dare to question the difference between justice and "just us"? ;)

Both men were charged and sentenced by the feds, not the state.

Am I the only person who thinks that trying to sell a senate seat to the highest bidder is a hell of a lot worse than stealing campaign contributions? Both are bad, but one ****s all over our system of government.

And don't forget. His whole disappearing act before the indictment was carefully orchestrated in order that he could receive Social Security Disability and 60% of his Congressional pay in disability payments. Poor guy.

I'm unclear how it works, but apparently the payments will be suspended while he's in prison. Jesus H. Christ. I hope so. What a sham.

You are under the assumption that that kind of wheeling and dealing isn't done every single day by every single politician? Especially in Illinois?

Oh, I'm aware that they are all assholes, but getting caught being that much of an asshole warrants 14 years. Any dumb **** who donates any money to a Chicago politicians campaign, however, deserves to have their money stolen.

Of course it was, and ain't no one gonna tell me that Brotha Jesse didn't have his team at the ready to go and march on the Thompson Center had the sentence been any more severe.

I may hate our corrupt asshole politicians, but I still love my State. Call me sentimental.

Now see, Sentimental, let me tell you how I see it. I have always believed here in IL and especially here in Chicago, that we expect a certain level of corruption from our politicians. However with that corruption we also expect a certain level of competence. The balance has been terribly skewed for quite some time now...

(So you're a fan of corn porn, eh? I've had about as much of that as I can stand as well...)

I laughed. There's some truth to this.

I have no idea what you are talking about with this, though.

you had said you still loved your state. I was refering to the explicit and gratuitous(porn) display of corn(fields) throughout the State... oh well...

It loses something when you have to explain it...

It's my fault. I should have been clearer. I love my city (mostly 'cause of the Bears, Blackhawks, Sox, pizza, and Italian beef sandwiches), which exists in the State of Illinois.

I'm not really sure of what goes on out in those rural country regions, like Schaumburg or further.

and nor should you want to... Yeah, once you get past Cook County, then hit Will, and into Kankakee going south, it is a bovine buffet... Nothing but feed corn as far as the eyes can see..

No matter where I may move, sweet home will always be Chicago...

I believe anything South of I-80 is Orion Samuelson country, fit for no one but meth heads and Jesus-based politicians.

We sure dodged a bullet here in Chicago though, because Jackson was planning on becoming Daley's successor just before all this hit the fan.

I'll agree with four our of those five things.

But go ahead and ignore 26 straight years of Repub governors who signed off on stealing money from the TRS public pension. Even though your boy G. Ryan did a better job, his Sec'y of State scandal cost a "white" family of 6 up in Milwaukee their lives due to the drivers license scandal. Color does matter.

Quinn needs to cut ALL public pensions by 50%, including mine, and never give it back. We lose millions every because of the mess Quinn is trying to clean up. And by the way, Please leave Illinois. Then your Public Health Insurance will cost more. The next time the TEAclowns cry CUT, we need to cut all public spending in Repub counties, as Quinn did in Livingston county with closing the Dwight prison.

No way Jackson wanted back in Illinois near his wife. He wanted the Senate badly to stay with his DC squeezes. His brainchild in Peotone with the airport will come to fruition at the end of this decade after the Illiana expressway is finished by Quinn, win or lose in 2014.

How disingenuously noble...

Keep posting like this, and you'll be branded a shill...

I would prefer 37.5% of something versus 75 % of nothing. You folks have choked your golden goose one too many times. You'll be disappointed with Article One of the USA Constitution if Illinois goes bankrupt.

Meanwhile, Rich Repub suburbs of Chicago continue to run up public salaries, further bankrupting the state pension system. Poor, conservative downstaters haven't caught on yet. Then the suburbs block paying the taxes needed to pay for their largesse.

 Schaumburg is not rural. My first home was in Warrenville. I'll agree on the food though.
