"Only 6 Democrats voted for a GOP bill to pay Federal Employees affected by shutdown so it failed"

Re: "Only 6 Democrats voted for a GOP bill to pay Federal Employees affected by shutdown so it faile

Yes exactly, it is their fault. Opposing a wall now that they voted in favor of in the past just so President Trump cant fulfill a campaign promise is nothing but the most vile of political games.

During the Govt shutdown under Obama he managed it as to punish the General Public as much as possible. President Trump is managing this one so that most of the General Public barely notices.

The only talking point the Dems have is the inconvenience for the Federal Employees not getting paid, and now it's clear beyond a doubt that it's the Dems infliction the pain.

What the President is asking for is one tenth of one percent of the Federal Budget. For Dems to deny Federal workers their pay and then go in lavish vacations in Porto Rico, and try to fly off to Europe is unforgivable.
The GOP could have easily funded a wall through the standard budgetary process and reconciliation. They did not need a single Democratic vote.

Why didn’t they pass it in 2018?

I’m not sure they know that reconciliation can only be used once a year. GOPs didn’t have a bare majority of the votes for the wall in 2017 when trying to repeal ACA, which failed anyway. That’s why GOPoliticians didn’t defend McCain from the attacks by RTrump when he was alive.

The same was true with the windfall tax cuts in 2018. They didn’t have the votes for the wall, especially in an election year.

Democrats need to be very careful in their overreach the next two years. Systemic gerrymandering from the 2010 catastrophe of an election is still a huge problem. If Democrats don’t flip more state legislatures and governorships in 2020, they’ll still be the minority party next decade.

Re: "Only 6 Democrats voted for a GOP bill to pay Federal Employees affected by shutdown so it faile

Oh I do, that is why I'm here at most once a week. As much as I like destroying Leftists, unlike most of them I have a real life.

So you're just here to destroy leftists, at most once a week. In those brief moments when your real life isn't taking up the majority of your time, of course.

That's good.

lol, I’m pretty sure they aren’t quite as bumbling as they play on TV.

The normal budgetary process involves CBO estimates. Mitch didn’t want them to come out because the’d show how abysmal the tax cuts were. He also didn’t want to make any republican take a tough vote. So they negotiated a CR which would last until the Democrats took the House. (Then they could use the budget as a political wedge issue)

Trump ruined that scheme. This isn’t about a wall. There’s already more wall funding than we can spend. This is a symbolic fight. That’s why we can’t move forward.

Re: "Only 6 Democrats voted for a GOP bill to pay Federal Employees affected by shutdown so it faile

While most were drinking the mainstream media Kool-Aid that Republicans and President Trump are responsible for keeping paychecks out of the hands of federal employees affected by the government shutdown, a bill was brought to the House floor that would have paid them their first paycheck of 2019.

It failed. Despite six Democrats voting in favor of the bill, the Democratic majority shot it down, preventing their political pawns – the 800,000 people directly affected by the government shutdown – from getting paid.

Representative Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) pointed it out and received a good amount of interactions on Twitter, but most in mainstream media refused to run this narrative-busting truth.

McConnell and Pence both got burned by #45 breaking his word after the 100-0 vote. McConnell won’t get fooled again. He won’t let RTrump cost him the Senate in 2020, as you indirectly mentioned with tough votes.

All of these ‘new’ Democrats on DP have no idea who they’re dealing with in Mitch McFilibuster. He completely owns the Federal Judiciary now. He’ll sit on every House bill. The Senate will be tough to take in 2020.

Yep, Unlike Bathhouse Berry, President Trump has made all Americans a lot of money. Money that should be spent on border security not Democrat luxury vacations.

Conspiracy theory forum is thataway--------> Please take your fantasies about gay sex and Obama to them.

Re: "Only 6 Democrats voted for a GOP bill to pay Federal Employees affected by shutdown so it faile

With the new trade deals Mexico is already paying for it. With out that entire country collecting welfare here at over 70% they are really paying for it.

There is no new trade deal proposing to collect money to pay for a wall. Congress has not ratified the trade deal.

It really helps to know the facts.

Spin it all you want, Trump said it point blank, this is his shutdown.

Re: "Only 6 Democrats voted for a GOP bill to pay Federal Employees affected by shutdown so it faile

WOW, you really don't know how to win one.

That bill would only affect a small number of Govt employees. The GOP bill would help them all.

The Democrats leverage in this is to have as many people suffering as possible. President Trumps leverage is to have as few suffering as possible.

We need this wall, what will it take: Terrorists sneaking a nuke or dirty bomb across the border before you Leftist admit that?

Pelosi wants suffering. She needs suffering and more of it. I'm waiting for the first story to hit about something tragic happening to a furloughed worker that can be exploited and tied to the shutdown. That is what Pelosi is waiting for, so she can use it was leverage and emotional extortion.

Pelosi is not waiting for anything. House has passed 10 Bills to stop the Shutdown just in the last two weeks and is proposing sensible border security measures She is just not giving in to Extortion for Trump's ridiculous fantastical Campaign rally chant that is already half dead ("Mexico will pay for it"). Thank God she is not giving in as giving in sends Article 1 of the Constitution right off the cliff edge.

Re: "Only 6 Democrats voted for a GOP bill to pay Federal Employees affected by shutdown so it faile

You're making it sound like it's the Democrats fault the government is shut down.

What, in your mind, should Nancy Pelosi do ?

Who's at fault? Time line of events. September 2018, Trump signed into law 5 appropriations bills passed by the Republican House and Senate. the 7 others were bundled into a CR extending funding for those departments and agencies through the first part of December. Trump signed the CR into law stating he wouldn't sign another CR unless funds for his wall was include. You can call this advance warning.

December 2018 the House passed a CR for the remaining 7 appropriations bill including fund for the wall. Schumer and the Democrats in the senate filibuster this CR preventing it to come to the senate floor for a vote. 5 billion for the wall the sticking point, which is approximately 0.0125% of the 4 trillion dollars the government will spend this year. less than two one hundredth of a single percentage point. This is why the government is shutdown.

January 2018 the Democratic House passed a CR for the remaining 7 appropriations bill denying funds for the wall. McConnell, the Republican majority leader table that bill. So here we are. A government shut down over around 0.0125%.

No Democratic filibuster in the senate in December, government would be open. No tabling of the Democratic House passed CR, the government would be open.

Bottom line, if not for partisan politics over 0.0125% or 5 billion dollars, the government would be open. All our current party leaders from both parties have their hands dirty over this. Trump, Pelosi, Schumer, McConnell, all are acting like four year old's. All are putting partisan politics above running this country.

Of course Republicans blame Democrats, Democrats blame Republicans. All should resigned and go home for putting partisanship above the good of the country. A pox on all of them.

Re: "Only 6 Democrats voted for a GOP bill to pay Federal Employees affected by shutdown so it faile

Donald said he was proud to own the shutdown.

Admittedly, the man lies as much as others breathe. But I believe him this time. The Trump shutdown rolls merrily on, and his popularity continues to dwindle.

The guy is falling in the polls like a rock, many polls indicate there is erosion in his base. Considering his base is the minority of the electorate this should be very alarming. Nov 2020 if the Dems comeout with the same amount of enthusiasm as the mid terms, it will be difficult for Trump, he is not expanding the base.

Oh, baloney:lamo Everyone knows Dems funded 3x the amount of border fence Trump is asking for and in 2013, all Senate Dems joined Schumer and voted to approve funding it. So please, spare yourself from looking like a useful idiot and pretending the Dems have any other reason to pull this 180 change in position other than they want to damage Trump and are will to use Americans to do it.

For a bill that FAILED TO PASS because it was crap legislation, another of these lets make a deal Bills that tries to slam together policy on one end with appropriations on the other. The only winners when these disasters pass is the Politicians who all get to go home claiming victory the whole way. Talked about FAILED legislation from past Congressional sessions is not even debate. Its propaganda.

That's good.

It's good but it's BS. Casca has destroyed exactly zero leftists, despite what he thinks.

You realize of course that exactly 2 months ago, Republicans controlled Congress and easily could have passed funding for the wall. Which would have meant no shutdown. They made a political calculation that they could blame it on Democrats later, but Trump blew that up by saying he was proud to own the shutdown.

As I said, this is purely a partisan affair. Pro Trumpers vs anti Trumpers. If one is neither, this whole thing smells of 100% pure partisanship. Like I stated in the past, If Tip O'Neal and Reagan can work out compromises on SDI almost every year of Ronnie's presidency, so too should our so called, but highly, ultra partisans we sent to Washington do so today. No excuse.
