We all know the money that is arrayed to cast doubt on climate change is huge. Exxon alone makes almost a billion in profit each month.

But it looks like a nice chunk of the funding is coming from Koch industries, and a new investigative report shows how.

Heres an editorial referencing the report (you can find it on the web in full, too) and showing how a whole lot of the climate denial stuff is coming from this company. I'm sure they're indirectly paying Anthony Watts and Spencer and all the other handful of denialists referenced here at DP too.

I like the end of that piece, it is so true.

The Koch brothers are certainly entitled to spend their money as they see fit. They can build foundations, contribute to politicians, influence policy. It's the job of watchdogs to report it. And to point out how much of the anti-global warming foment in America today is funded by the Koch brothers and vociferously repeated by people who don't even realize they're doing the billionaire brothers' bidding. For free.

You are saying that 165 million dollars in 5 years is a global plan to dominate the thought process of the public and cause them to refute the logic os the better informed?

Seriously?

The IRS spends more than that every year teaching it's agents to line dance.

Why one earth would you think those two things are comparable? More than five times as much is spent on a single B-2, but that's not exactly relevant.

The oil industry makes a whole pile of money. 165 million in 5 years is less than pocket change for this crowd. In 2011, profits for the Big 5 oil companies was about 140 billion. This means the money that could not be hidden by the best accountants in the world.

165 million is about 1 one thousandth of one percent give or take a billion.

Just curious. Is the funding for denial greater than the funding for warming?
Not if you don't replace "warming" with "all climate science and the possible contingencies for the changing climate".

NOAA, NASA and EPA combined spent 25 billion in 2012.

That's a tad stronger than 165 million in 5 years.

Of course, some of NASA's money is spent on Muslim outreach.
