First out the gate he said that it's going to be nowhere near 50 grand per case, now they're also exploring means testing, meaning
if you're making more than about 100 thousand something a year you're not going to get any debt forgiven at all.

Know what? Sounds fine to me, it's supposed to be for people who are poor, not for well off or middle class.
So your blunt little tool isn't serving anyone well including you.
I don't want taxpayer funds just being treated like a pinata, give the help to the people who actually need it.
So, you don't really know as much about how liberals think as you think you might.

I'm also more inclined to support free college only for means tested individuals who can demonstrate ATB, ability to benefit and who
have the good grades to show they're serious about higher education. I also want accountability so that folks who get these monies can't just
go and blow it on partying and new clothes.

I live in California, I experience everyday how "liberals think".

There is no way to monitor how people who receive tax payer benefits misspend their other monies. How many "poor people" do you see who don't have smart phones, cable TV, go to movies, out to eat at fast food, or all other discretionary spending and STILL accept taxpayer support? In fact, in many households receiving welfare benefits there are other family members working cash jobs off the radar.

I remember when the Republican Party was the balance to a Democratic Party that was actually progressive. My dad was a Republican, an administrator, a negotiator between labor and management, a teacher, a community leader, a wise father, always honest and occasionally bit stuffy. He came up from poor Irish stock and firmly believed that in America if you worked hard you could get ahead, but, he also recognized he had a responsibility to help others as he too had been helped. He was the quintessential Republican. He died before the GOP became psychotic.
