OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The rollout of statewide medical and recreational marijuana programs typically is a grindingly slow process that can take years. Not so in Oklahoma, which moved with lightning speed once voters approved medical cannabis in June.

The ballot question received 57 percent support and established one of the nation’s most liberal medical pot laws in one of the most conservative states. Six months later, the cannabis industry is booming.

The green movement marches on even in a reactionary state like OK. I guess being stoned helps you deal with the frequent tornadoes & earthquakes. What else do you have to do when you're hunkered down in your storm cellar?

More good news. It is a good day.

Being able to generate (extract?) tax revenue from previously untapped sources run entirely by "criminals" is a wise move.

at this point, it's dumb for states to not cash in on the pot market, IMO.

Yes but the dealer down the street offers one-stop shopping for Ecstacy, pot, hash, crystal cocaine, fentanyl & meth. He doesn't ask you for your doctor's prescription first.

Absolutely. Prohibition just makes some really nasty assholes very rich. Take the illegal drug trade away from them and they'll be back to shoplifting DVD's for a living.

Cashing in..may be we should buy chips ahoy stock.

will do! i should have done that back in the early 2000s when i was fat. instead, i bought chips ahoy. ;)

i have reformed myself since then and have a normal BMI.

Give the government some more time and they will likley expand as well. After all, they have started with a schedule I controlled substance.

Sports book here in the NE is spreading as the pols eye their neighboring states raking in the $$$. One man's vice is another man's source of tax revenue. It all depends on your POV.

This is very surprising, because OK is a very conservative state.

It looks like they need money from somewhere to fund their schools.

They can't pull the tax $$$ out of their collective a**es.

Yep, since they roll their joints all wrong.

I think it was Tommy Chong who had the line in one of his 'Up in Smoke' movies with Cheech Marin. He's practicing rolling joints because he felt it was going to be a growth industry. That was 40+ years ago. It just takes a while.

Watch the Ken Burns documentary 'Prohibition' to see what prohibition can do: turn the country into a nation of criminals & scofflaws. It's either on Amazon Prime or Netflix.
