Okay, here's the plan:

Back off and let those men who want to marry men, marry men.

Allow those women who want to marry women, marry women.

Allow those folks who want to abort their babies, abort their babies.

In three generations, there will be no Democrats!!!

Man, I love it when a plan comes together!

If only....you were serious, I could actually respect your stance. Alas.....the sarcasm instead...does the opposite.

It was meant in jest but it could come to pass.....

I am curious Navy...as you are obviously not one lacking in logical thought, if you would please answer a few questions for me that I might gain some understanding:

I understand you take issue with Homosexual marriage, and you certainly have that right, but I wish to know...WHY?

If indeed it is a dislike of the lifestyle....what does that have to do with disallowing marrige, unless your dislike extends to the level of Bigotry towards a group?

If intead it is a protection of the sanctity stance, what of divorce, affairs, and the hundreds of thousands of open marriages?

I have explained my stance on gay marriage many times in this forum and even jallman who is gay understands it..........

First of all a gay person has the same right to marry I do.....He or she want a special right.............Gays cite the 14th amendment, the equal protection clause as being violated..........Well if you make and exception for gays to marry then you have to make that same exception for other classes if people who are defined by a choice they make..........By that equal protection clause you have to allow Polygamysts to marry.............You have to allow family members to inner marry for the benefits that they might receive.....It does not have to be a sexual thing either............A mother whos husband has died might want to marry her son.........A brother might want to marry a sister..............It opens up all kinds of things....

In addition although not as important I would like the sanctity of marriage to remain as is...........I am in favor of civil unions for gays with all the rights that straight people get.........The gay people I know would be perfectly happy if that was to happen.......

Unfortunately therer is a small group of radical gays and left wingers who are spoiling it all for the gay community becasue they are turning off middle America.............

Thank you...I would tend to agree with the civil union stance, as I find the whole Marriage concept rather....oudated as it is. If indeed the rights under law are identical, I find this a wonderful compromise. That said....do you feel ammending the constitution is a good Idea, considering the underlying message it sends concerning civil rights, and the religious context marrige has taken in this country?

No I don't think its a good idea to amend the constitution but it is probably the only way you can ensure that marriage remains between a man and a woman......Activist liberal judges in Mass. have proven that..........

They may have the right to marry someone of the opposite sex, but they do not have the right to marry someone they actually wish to spend the rest of their life with, i.e. someone they're in love with and willing to make an actual commitment to.

Well if you make and exception for gays to marry then you have to make that same exception for other classes if people who are defined by a choice they make..........

Except gays don't CHOOSE to be gay. There's a difference. You didn't choose to be heterosexual, did you? I sure didn't. Same thing applies to them. They didn't choose, they just are.

By that equal protection clause you have to allow Polygamysts to marry.............

No you don't.

You have to allow family members to inner marry for the benefits that they might receive.....

Nope.

It does not have to be a sexual thing either............A mother whos husband has died might want to marry her son.........A brother might want to marry a sister..............It opens up all kinds of things....

Not particularly. Besides, there's a reason that incest is illegal, and it's not just because it's weird, it's because they could have some seriously screwed up offspring. That doesn't apply to gays, at least, not any more so than it does for you or me...

1. Neither do I.I want to marry my sister for the benefits.......not to engage in incest.......

2. That is your opinion......A lot of people don't agree with you..........

3. As I said you could marry a family member for the benefits awarded.....A stritly platonic relationsship........

Bottom line is gays have the same rights I have.........Like Polygamysts they want special rights..it ain't gonna happen.........

 Sure, they might SAY that, but is it the truth? Doubtful. There are plenty of folks out there that are willing to get married just for the benefits. No need to resort to your sibling.

2. That is your opinion......A lot of people don't agree with you..........

No, it's not just my opinion. Scientific research provides more and more data to back that up every single day.

Regardless, there are a lot of people that DO agree with me.

3. As I said you could marry a family member for the benefits awarded.....A stritly platonic relationsship........

And as I said, you could simply SAY that it would be a strictly platonic relationship, but just because you say something, that doesn't make it so.

Bottom line is gays have the same rights I have.........Like Polygamysts they want special rights..it ain't gonna happen.........

Nope. My dictionary here at home says that marriage is "The legal union of two people in wedlock". Doesn't specify that they have to be of opposite genders, just that there are TWO people involved, no more.

Gotta love Webster's.

And last time I checked, NP, you didn't have the final say-so as to what is legal and what isn't. Gay marriage may not happen in your lifetime, and it may not happen in mine, either.....but mark my words, it WILL happen eventually. Back in the day, people thought they'd never be able to marry someone of a different race, and look at us now. Things evolve and times change. Learn to accept that, and you're halfway there.

In 1967, SCOTUS decided that marriage discrimination based on race was wrong, even though polls showed 70% of the US was opposed to allowing non-whites to marry whites.
Maybe the activist judges had it right? :thinking

There is a huge difference in a race of people and one that is defined by choice......The SCOTUS did have it right........
