Again, where did you get this fact? I posted links earlier that blow that '261 days until Exxon Valdez' stat out of the water.
Also, why not stop it before it reaches that much, if capable? Why call you in 261 days? Doesn't make much sense.

You're right, BP shouldn't just sit on their hands. They should set up like some kind of think-tank and have uber-smart brainiacks dream up ways to deal with this and then start implementing various solutions.
Oh wait....
BP Prepares for ?Top Kill? Procedure to Contain Spill - NYTimes.com
Because there is little to nothing I can do about it. And the stats don't change the fact that there is nothing I can do about it.
Call me in 261 days. Seems fair as it's just as arbitrary now as all this quibbling over whether we should crucify BP or crucify Obama.
I don't understand what you are trying to say.
I'm not attacking you, I'm just saying what does 261 days have to do with anything?
There is little anyone outside of BP can do to contain the actual leak.
I'm not trying to make a plea for action here or criticizing BP's position, it just seems odd like you don't think its a big deal until it reaches the size of the worst oil spill in U.S history.
I think it's a big deal. I don't think there's too much to be done about it except let the experts handle it and then wait for the recovery from the impact. My whole point from page one in this thread has been that recovery will happen and there is no sense in getting in an uproar. Investigate, grow, and learn from the experience but all this quibbling over who's head to have for it isn't productive. At all.

it looks bad
36 days, 11 hours, 22 minutes, 14 seconds...
261 days doesn't have to do with anything. It doesn't mean anything. Nothing at all.
The purpose of tossing up "261 days", again a number which doesn't mean anything, is to illustrate that "36 days, 11 hours, 22 minutes, 14 seconds" also means exactly squat, zilch, zero, nada.
There's nothing anyone here can do. That's the point.
I'm still waiting for your proof that Obama did nothing for 40 days.
36 days, 14 hours, 22 minutes, 17 seconds...
day 5 to day 7: the obama's go on vacation in the beautiful blue ridge mountains, a little golf, a bbq, a nice nature walk
day 39 to 42: another little getaway, this time chicago, maybe the stanley cup, surely an evening at the goodman to see "the good negro," followed by a late dinner at blackbirds
maybe saturday he'll go see william ayers and his lovely wife, ms dohrn
they certainly can't visit the reverend or spend sunday at trinity, tho
you understand
ADK,
You are asking for proof of a negative, which is a logical fallacy. It would be the same asking someone for proof that they haven't read a Playboy in the past forty days. How would they prove such a thing?
I'd rather President Obama worry about Iran
I'd rather President Obama worry about Iran and bomb plots in the US. BP will take care of stopping the spill.
That sounds like John McCain. The prez can, and must, juggle many balls at one time. It's that kind of attitude that led to this disaster. BP, and all oil, gas, coal, nuclear companies (and frankly "companies" in general!) can not be left to police themselves.
I couldn't... with a straight face. :3oops:
See that's the thing...we don't know if/what he's doing because we aren't privileged to that information. We don't receive the Daily Presidential Brief, we don't have that security clearance, we truly have little if any real information to say one way or the other.
All we know is how it appears to us, which really means nothing at all because if the President looks weak then that could just be a ploy to the enemy. We don't know the whole story. We know surprisingly little, and that's the way it should be.
ADK,
The point is that you couldn't prove it. It's virtually impossible to prove a negative.
Yet, that being accepted by most on this forum,
Oh, you brought up Bush, that's original.
So what does the maritime law say about foreign nations taking over private property in international water?
Yet, that being accepted by most on this forum, VanceMack still had the audacity to make just such a negative accusation. (Note: he's not alone here spewing this ridiculous claim.) alms, I submit you're missing the forest for the trees on this. He must have had something to make him believe such a thing, ya think? Like some right wing website or cable entertainer or Repub politician? Yet, when pushed to produce the reason for his obvious anemic right wing rhetoric, VM would not produce anything. Not one Billo sound bite. Not one Beckish, tear filled rant. Nothing. That, in itself, should have been a clue to him that he was off the reservation.
Hmmm.... Or might he have made such an unproveable claim knowing he could not be asked to prove his position? Could he be that cunning? Hmmmm....... Nah.
