I don't know the workload of the mods. But maybee they can as I suggested in the Iran to realise the sailo/ in Breaking news thread. Cut out intersting of topic discusion and put them their they belong.

Could you please rephrase that Bergslagstroll? I'm not quite sure what you have suggested here. ThankQ!

Sorry what I mean is that I have seen other debate sites with what to appear to be the same "engine"/ programbase been able to cut out off topic discusion. Like for example if you have a thread about Iraq and then people start an pretty intersting discusion about tothpaste. Then you can take those post about tothpaste and put them in a new separate thread their they belong. And also you can put a message about that you moved the tothpaste discusion and also a link to it's new location in the Iraq thread. But as I said it depends on your mods workload and how intersting you find the off topic discusions.

From my perspective (my opinion only), "topic creep" can be a good thing. The example you gave is pretty extreme but toothpaste can be just as interesting to discuss or it could morph into a more fundamental topic. Everyone has the power to jump in and bring it back to the topic that interests them.

Another reason we normally do not break out off-topic posts might be for potential bias liability on behalf of the mods.
