Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez threatened to use the powers of her elected office to retaliate against Donald Trump Jr. on Friday after the president's son posted a meme trolling her on his personal Instagram account.

"I have noticed that Junior here has a habit of posting nonsense about me whenever the Mueller investigation heats up," Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. "Please, keep it coming Jr - it’s definitely a “very, very large brain” idea to troll a member of a body that will have subpoena power in a month."

Almost immediately, numerous political analysts, commentators, and pundits noted that Ocasio-Cortez's comments likely constituted an ethics violation.

I am getting sick and tired of this little girls antics on Twitter. This irresponsible behavior coming from congresswomen Cortez is getting old. Looking through her twitter feed she also posted something about how climate change is racist... wtf???

The citizens in her district must be so embarrassed. This is a daily occurrence of what crazy thing Alex will say next.

They aren't embarrassed. Think about her district. They think she's the second coming.

I personally find her entertaining in exactly the same way I find Trump entertaining. Neither considers anything before going on Twitter to attack. Both are partisan hacks. It's just impressive that she can make enough noise to be compared to POTUS.
 
I'm more tolerant of this stuff than most I suppose. She is a political novice who is going to make mistakes. What's bad is if she is taken advantage of in Congress. She is such a novice that she may he easily manipulated. She better smarten up she is about to be swimming with the sharks. They all come wearing smiles.

She's almost 30-years old and acting like a middle schooler. Very disrespectful towards people twice her age. She will not last long at her job.

And the President and/or his family is not in government?

It's about time Trump and his got bit back. Let this soak in, for them. They need it. It's exactly what Congress is supposed to do - put them in check. And it's why the Dems were voted into power. In fact, putting Trump in check was among the highest voter concerns for the Dem House voters last month.

Don jr holds no political office that I know of but even if he did, he didnt threaten her with the power of that position. That's the difference.

Dont miss understand, I'm not convinced she was serious. I'm willing to give her the benefit of doubt that she was just talking smack and that she did not realize it was a rule violation to do that. Now she knows. If it happens again she needs to be punished but 5his time she should get a pass, imo

Don Jr. is in the White House, and his Dad runs the government. He's part of it all, official title notwithstanding. But I was also referring to the President attacking her and others. I find this last, the ultimate form of government abuse.

Perhaps D.J. should have kept his mouth shut.

I dont like all the name calling and sniping going on but I dont really see it stopping if Trump shut his trap. It's coming from both sides. I dont know what don jr tweeted but im guessing it wasnt unprovoked.

They havent. The closest would be the "lock her up" but its not as if Mrs. Clinton has NOT been in the legal crossfire.

I doubt many of the people in her district know who she even is to this day. Though the amount of gaffes that keep getting spewed out from her are sure to get someone's attention... at least the democrats now have someone who is just as bad with Twitter as Trump is.

If the usual children can be mad because Trump says mean, or stupid things on Twitter. Then why can't we?

Sounds like someone is grasping onto that double standard as hard as they can.

Coming from we keep hearing from the heads of the democratic party. It sounds more like they intend on keeping Trump from doing his job. I would be more with you on the subject, but it appears that Jr didn't break any code of conduct, at least not governmental. While Cortez seems to have used her position to threaten someone, which is a serious problem for someone in her position. Given that she is supposed to be a member of the more progressive group, her animus might end up alienating more voters in the long run than bringing them in.

The moment Don Jr wags his finger and threatens to abuse the power of his station, I'll be there to decry it like everyone else should. But such a thing did not happen this time around.
