More "Change you can believe in":

The New York Times has obtained and described a secret Justice Department report, detailing the US government's aid to World War II Nazis, who sought asylum in the West after the war.

While claiming to be a haven for the persecuted of that war, i.e. for the victims of Nazis, the US sought to obtain assistance from Germans, known to be Nazis and war criminals, in its Cold War against the Soviet Union....

In 2006, when the Justice Department report was finished, the Bush administration rejected making it public, determining that it would be bad for the public image of the USA, which at the time was certainly already taking a beating in the world after five years of the Terror Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

However, the Obama administration, which had promised during the 2008 election to run a more open and transparent government, did not change the Bush policy—in fact in numerous cases Obama simply followed Bush's lead.

In the case of the report on the US government's aid to Nazis, the Obama administration fought the release of the secret report, determining as did the Bush regime that American citizens have no right to know their own government's complicity in helping war criminals.

What does releasing old documentation from the 1940's, before Obama was even born, have anything to do with his transparency of government pledge.

Bear in mind, I think his administration has failed in that department badly, not disputing that.

I just think, this is picking at straws here.

WHY DID OBAMMA HIDE NAZI???

Not my America.

:D

I have known since I was a kid that we had NAZIs here since the end of WW-2 and they were used in many areas, but the ones I learned of first were Rocket scientists.

Operation Paperclip brought at least 139 NAZI scientists over to work on the same thing they worked on in Germany. The V-2 Rockets

NAZI was the name for National Socialist workers party and not all members were involved in the Death camps, some were members of convenience and helped keep some people alive.

I am not defending anyone just stating a facts.

Sometimes it does no good to open old wounds it just causes problems we don't need and there is no good reason to do it.

I'm not defending Obama President Bush or any other person who withheld information that would be of no use to release.

The Rocket Scientists made our whole Space Program what it is today. Russia did the same thing with all the Scientists they could round up.

What does Obama's date of birth have to do with anything? If it was relevant, then why did he call the president of Guatemala and apologize for a U.S.-sponsored eugenics study that infected Guatemalans with gonorrhea and syphilis in 1946, "before Obama was born"? Personally, I think the role our government played in aiding Nazis is an important part of history that we should learn from. Who knows? Maybe getting these former Nazis to help us against the Soviet Union was a good idea. After all, some of them helped us get to the Moon after American engineers kept having rockets blow up on the launch pad. We didn't seem to have any moral problems using Nazis in our space program at the time. The wet feet only came later, after we built rockets (with their help) that could actually fly.

Alan Shepard Blasts off for space.

Thank God the goody two shoes bunch don't know anything about history because they'd flip out to know that the Army Redstone Rockets were direct decedents of the captured NAZI V-2s that were called terror weapons.

By the way Alan Shepard and Gus Grissom our first and second men in space got there aboard in a Mercury Capsule atop a Redstone Rocket.

Shepard was the bravest of the bunch because all the tests up until his launch blew up on the pad.

Delta-II didn't make it.

Your post is total horse****. The article points out that the nnumber two person who came up with the final solution was one of the people let in. Not exactly a scientist. Those people were known about and were not criminals to the best of anyone's knowledge.

I wonder how many people would be happy if their family was tortured and then murdered, the killers found many years later and I said who cares that was a long time ago, why bother these old folks.

I wonder how many liberals who B.S. about equal rights think it is OK that Obama along with his predecessors allowed mass murderers to go unkmown in America. It makes what you stand for a bit hypocritical don't you think.

Your missed the Point but it's to be expected. The Scientists built the V-2 a TRRROR WEAPON that killed over 7,000 civilians and were given a pass.

Seems to me like Obama should have just released the records. Most of these guys have been dead for 30 years. No need to be so damn secretive.

The article doesn't offer any proof that Obama's administration tried to suppress the reports. Maybe the New York Times article references something that this article doesn't mention, but I don't see any proof being pointed to that Obama personally or even indirectly avoided transparency. I could be wrong, but it doesn't sound like you have the facts to back up your criticism.

UM_ I kind of thought it was common knowledge that the US had Nazis Scientist working for us. Ie My dad even meat Wernher von Braun during his stay at NASA, and I doubt this would be a big revelation to people who actually study their history. Some aspect of the Space programs were created by Nazi' s eugenics research done at the death camps done by Dr. Josef Mengele.
