President Obama, arriving Thursday in Russia, anticipated a lively two-day G20 summit, during which he’ll reprise his lobbying for international airstrikes against Syria with President Vladimir Putin, an ally of the Assad regime, as well as other world leaders.

Russia said it compiled a report asserting that Syrian rebels were behind a chemical weapons attack in March near Aleppo, according to the McClatchy news service. The 100-page report, which Russia said it delivered to the United Nations in July, runs counter to U.S. claims that the regime of Bashar al-Assad has been behind chemical attacks in Syria, including a mass killing near Damascus in August.

A White House spokesman, traveling with reporters from Sweden to St. Petersburg, described Obama’s pending discussions with Putin as “interactions.”

Heya WCH. :2wave: Way to jump on this. ;) So Ban Ki Moon has had the Russian report since July.....his pending discussions. Do you think Obama will be able to get over on Putin this time round? Looks like the tables are turned.

No way Obama can sway Putin. That ship has sailed.

IMO, Putin is pushing back against the powers the be. That, Imo, is a good thing.

Obama, otoh, is a puppet for said powers

Well it does seem like Putin and Russians have put out enough Messages for Obama.....his last was to send 3 more Ships into Club Med. Although these are going to the Shores of Syria.

He knew Obama was looking to deal with anything but Syria at this G20.....plus now Due to Syria's Nuclear Reactor. Russia will take it to the AEIA next week.

That ship never existed. Syria and Russia have a strong alliance, and there was never any way that Putin was going to let this kiddy cowboy bull**** fly.

From reports I saw this morning, that fact has been established. Putin will not budge on Syria.

Serious doubts still exist about who used the Sarin gas.

And that's a good thing. Hopefully Putin backs his skinny ass all the way into the corner and hog ties him and saves the world from a regional or worse, world war.

It's about time Obama learns he can't do whatever he wants.

This might well (and should) hurt him in his negotiations with Congress on Amnesty, ObamaCare, Debt ceiling, etc. Most likely why all this Syria mess became so important at 'this' time.

Exactly. Over 100,000 dead and then he gets picky about they way they die? Give me a break. This has nothing to do with the Syrians, National Security, or anything else, it has to do with him and his agenda and his ego.

Well Obama says he will address the nation.....maybe he will show us then. It's been set for this Saturday.

Obama set to speak on Syria at White House

The White House says President Barack Obama is getting ready to speak about Syria from the White House.

A White House official says Obama's remarks will not be about an imminent military operation in Syria, but will be an update to the public about his decisions on how to proceed.

Obama has been considering a limited military strike against Syria. As of Friday he said he hadn't yet made a decision.

Yet he and his minions have changed the plans for Syria more than 50 times.

Well honestly not for Obama it hasn't.....so there are more ripples along the way.

Nuances sure. But, foreign policy is generally consistent and transcends presidents. Otherwise you would see huge foreign policy
Degree changes and that doesn't happen. Obama said at the beginning of this (Syria issue) that Assad must go.

In a disturbing article entitled When War Games Go Live , Chossoduvsky quotes from retired General Wesley Clark’s 2003 book Winning Modern Wars regarding the role of military intervention against Syria and Iran in the Pentagon’s grand Middle East strategy. According to Clark, the Pentagon has been making preparation to attack both countries since the mid-nineties. On page 130 of Winning Modern Wars, Clark states

“As I went back through the Pentagon in November 2001, one of the senior military staff officers had time for a chat. Yes, we were still on track for going against Iraq, he said. But there was more. This was being discussed as part of a five-year campaign plan, he said, and there were a total of seven countries, beginning with Iraq, then Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Iran, Somalia and Sudan.”

What would be "disturbing" would be if the Pentagon did not have such plans pre made. In fact, it would be down right stupid if they didn't.

OMG. Does the pentagon have contingencies for regime change in the US. Nation building, imperialism, regime change, hegemony are all counter to true democratic principles that are mouthed by the US. TOTAL BULL****.
