that evil AARP!!!!! :skakesfist:  lying about innocent ole Obamacare.

because, of course, we meant for Obamacare to help, and you know, there's no such thing as a law of unintended consequences or anything...... :lamo

AARP's endorsement helped secure passage of President Barack Obama's health care overhaul. Now the seniors' lobby is telling its employees their insurance costs will rise partly as a result of the law...

And AARP adds that it's changing copayments and deductibles to avoid a 40 percent tax on high-cost health plans that takes effect in 2018 under the law. Aerospace giant Boeing also has cited the tax in asking its workers to pay more. Shifting costs to employees lowers the value of a health care plan and acts like an escape hatch from the tax.

"Most plan co-pays and deductibles have been modified," Jennifer Hodges, AARP's director of compensation and benefits, wrote employees in an Oct. 25 e-mail. "Plan value changes were necessary not only from a cost management standpoint but also to ensure that AARP's plans fall below the threshold for high-cost group plans under health care reform."..

AARP warned its employees that more cost-shifting could be in store. "AARP intends to make similar changes, as necessary, in the future to avoid the (health plan) tax," said Hodges' e-mail.

What I'd just remind you is that AARP was endorsing Obamacare to its seniors membership . . . not necessarily its employees. Big difference.

What is it with conservatives and the second paragraph of this article?...LOL...Somebody in another thread did the same exact thing and erroneously left it out, just like you did.

For those that didn't read the article, here's the second paragraph:
Article's second paragraph said:
In an e-mail to employees, AARP says health care premiums will increase by 8 percent to 13 percent next year because of rapidly rising medical costs.

$8,500 individual and $23,000 family health care coverage are the floors for determining what is found to be high cost health plans. retirees 55 and older, those working in high risk occupations, and those resident in 17 high cost states have even higher thresholds
http://www.soa.org/files/pdf/research-fed-health-excise-tax.pdf

the employer appears to be making this move to avoid a 40% surcharge on the generous plans
what i do not understand is the point of this thread; someone please identify for me the problem which has been posted
