President Obama waived a provision of federal law designed to prevent the supply of arms to terrorist groups to clear the way for the U.S. to provide military assistance to "vetted" opposition groups fighting Syrian dictator Bashar Assad.

Some elements of the Syrian opposition are associated with radical Islamic terrorist groups, including al Qaeda, which was responsible for the Sept. 11 attacks in New York, Washington, D.C., and Shanksville, Pa., in 2001. Assad's regime is backed by Iran and Hezbollah.

I suppose this means ALL terrorist groups can be armed now. Corporations can once again sell their wares, should be good for our MIC, too.

Appalling. Yet I, a citizen with a clean record, have to undergo a background check to buy a revolver. The irony....

As with the military coup in Egypt, you simply change the terms used and the law does not stop you. ;)

If they are shooting at your enemy then they are freedom fighters, if they are shooting at you, or your friends, then they are terrorists. Quite simple, really. ;)

I want to start off by saying that I disagree with President Obamas decision to allow funding. On the other hand I'm just pumped to see the Obama haters come in and level him for the same exact thing that Bush did. It's always fun to be hypocritical!

Well I'm an equal opportunity critic, I criticised both. Except I don't remember Bush arming the enemy he was fighting as Obama is, maybe I missed something and I really hate defending Bush.

Exactly, thus we have dreamy immigration law, targetted tax policy, public investments in private industry, civil asset forfeiture and a federal department of education. The law is what the gov't does, not what some piece of paper says that it may.

Glad there are some people out there like you! Bush funded terrorists that were anti-Iranian fighters. In the end the arms were used against the US.

Actually Bush aided the MEK.

Our Men in Iran? : The New Yorker

"From the air, the terrain of the Department of Energy’s Nevada National Security Site, with its arid high plains and remote mountain peaks, has the look of northwest Iran. The site, some sixty-five miles northwest of Las Vegas, was once used for nuclear testing, and now includes a counterintelligence training facility and a private airport capable of handling Boeing 737 aircraft. It’s a restricted area, and inhospitable—in certain sections, the curious are warned that the site’s security personnel are authorized to use deadly force, if necessary, against intruders.

It was here that the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) conducted training, beginning in 2005, for members of the Mujahideen-e-Khalq, a dissident Iranian opposition group known in the West as the M.E.K. "

The US State Department listed them a terrorist group for 15 years. (Foreign Terrorist Organizations)

While they were de-listed from the US State Department terrorism list last year, what it shows is that we were basically going and embracing terrorists because they were attacking the people we disliked.

...The only good Syrian is a dead Syrian. What I would do would be sell some Sarin to the rebels.

Hey bartender over here
Two more shots
And two more beers
Sir turn up the TV sound
The war has started on the ground
Just love those laser guided bombs
They're really great
For righting wrongs
You hit the target
And win the game
From bars 3,000 miles away
We play the game
We zap and maim
We strafe the train
We gain terrain
We play the game
With the bravery of being out of range

The story is BS, but the MEK is not a terrorist organization in any case.:peace

Can we say "Obama pals around with terrorists yet?"

I remember all the sneers whenever Ayers was brought up. Now Obama is arming Al Qaeda. Obama who is spying on you and using his IRS like the Gestapo.

Please see my #19.
The MEK was classified as a terrorist group at the time of Bush aiding them. There are several sources, including the Washington post, that chronicled the aiding of them.
