This is President Obama in all his sneeringly condescending glory:

"Now, this debt ceiling -- I just want to remind people in case you haven't been keeping up -- raising the debt ceiling, which has been done over a hundred times, does not increase our debt; it does not somehow promote profligacy. All it does is it says you got to pay the bills that you've already racked up, Congress. It's a basic function of making sure that the full faith and credit of the United States is preserved."

Obama went on to suggest that "the average person" mistakenly thinks that raising the debt ceiling means the U.S. is racking up more debt:

"It's always a tough vote because the average person thinks raising the debt ceiling must mean that we're running up our debt, so people don't like to vote on it, and, typically, there's some gamesmanship in terms of making the President's party shoulder the burden of raising the -- taking the vote."

Get that? You're too stupid to understand this government stuff so just trust me when I say that raising the debt celing is really a good thing because it ensures the full faith and credit of the US.

Obama's opinion of American intelligence is quite low. Must be because they voted for him twice.

Only is you conceder being unpatriotic, irresponsible, and reckless a good thing

The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. … Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.

Obama 2006

“The problem is, is that the way Bush has done it over the last eight years is to take out a credit card from the Bank of China in the name of our children, driving up our national debt from $5 trillion for the first 42 presidents — #43 added $4 trillion by his lonesome, so that we now have over $9 trillion of debt that we are going to have to pay back — $30,000 for every man, woman and child. That’s irresponsible. It’s unpatriotic.“

I really doubt that you know 'most of us here in the .S.' So how can you be sure that they agree with you?

If you don't like reading what I post, just scroll on by and ignore my comments. what's hard about that?

I don't litter - I do pick up a lot of litter that others carelessly discard.

Do you have a problem with the fact that I pick up other people's litter?

a post of yours from another thread

I don't have time to wade through all of the verbiage at the link, but I did notice that reference was made to the Tea Party so I'll just say that anything that puts the Tea Party and/or the far right out of business is fine with me.

so don't even try that censorship crap when you your self is advocating censorship You sir are the prime example of hypocrisy

I'm not advocating censorship, didn't even mention it in regards to the Tea Party and the far right, I'm advocating eliminating the Tea Party and the entire far right . That goes way beyond censorship. Censorship is weak soup.

hate speech is not protected speech he doesn't have the right to speak about eliminating anyone
not here in America. now over there in socialist Europe they maybe able to get away with it. they have had a lot of practice eliminating groups they don't like

The day the far right and tea party types get eliminated, is the day that this country starts dropping like a rock in water. They are the necessary balance for the far leftists who would reduce the country to rubble by way of social debt if they could.

They will eliminate themselves!

The right in the USA including the GOP and the Tea Party will join the Whigs in the not-distant future. They are on the wrong (Losing.) side of every social issue and they will pay a heavy price for that.

In about thirty years or so the massive demographic change that is coming at the right in the USA like a tidal wave will reduce the GOP to a minor, regional, party with no national power.
If you don't think so, just wait and see.

No one can stop time and/or change.

I know this is beyond your reasoning capability, but the federal government has no business involving itself in "social issues"...

Conservatives continue to make up the largest segment of political views in the country, outnumbering liberals nearly two-to-one, according to a new poll Thursday.

The Gallup survey found that 40 percent of Americans consider themselves conservative; 35 percent consider themselves moderate; and 21 percent see themselves as liberal. The figures did not change from 2010.

For the third straight year, conservatives outnumbered both moderates and liberals.

Conservatives began outstripping moderates in 2008, and the percentage of moderates has declined steadily over the past two decades, from 43 percent 1992 to 35 percent in 2011.

In fact, both self-identified conservatives and liberals have risen in number since the early 1990s, indicating a growing polarization in American politics.

Believe whatever you want to believe.

Come back in thirty years and tell me how the GOP is doing.

Obama's opinion of American intelligence is quite low. Must be because they voted for him twice.

I've actually seen that here on this board the last couple of times. Cons suggesting "we don't need more debt" when that's not what's happening.

What is happening is pure partisan gamesmanship. There was no problem raising the debt ceiling when there was an "R" in the Oval Office.

I agree that both parties are responsible for the debts that have incurred, Bush took 8 years and a two front war to incur his debts. Obama has exceeded those debts in less than four years and hasn't stopped yet. We are not accelerating the economy but we are encouraging unemployment and less full time jobs. The hypocrisy belongs to both parties. Therefore, a full sweep of those politicians in both Houses of Congress is needed to put us on a firm footing.
BTW using a source such as ThinkProgress.org is far from being a non-biased.

Never said otherwise, but you're going to lecture about biased sources?

Seems, I've used Huffpo, WAPO, and Politico, not to mention the Daily Kos on these boards too.
