I couldn't believe this at first. I didn't think our President was this stupid:

“I’ve encouraged Mr. Putin to think forward as opposed to backward on those issues, with mixed success,”

Obama says US reassessing Russia ties, laments mixed results with Putin, ‘backward’ thinking - The Washington Post

How arrogant is that? Does Obama really think he's teaching Putin anything? Does he think so highly of himself, that he believes other heads of state look to him for advice?

This was so blatantly arrogant, Obama's lucky Putin didn't lob a nuke at him.

Seriously? You had a problem with THIS???

Wow you are REALLY running out of things to bitch about. If he had said something nice to Putin he would have been attacked as soft on Russians/Commies/Socialists. Dude just can't win, can he? This is way more benign than Reagan's "Evil Empire" speech, did you bitch about that too when that happened?

It's called Obama derangement syndrome.

Obama has been a terrible leader and a poor president.

But when you look to the president of Russia for ways to get at Obama (as bad as he has been)...

Well I'm afraid my dear you've lost the ****ing game.

I don't like when our President tries to force his agenda on other countries. STAY OUT OF FOREIGN POLITICS, it never ends well.

The realities of a global economy and global security concerns pretty much makes that completely unrealistic for any President. This has been true since before 1776. The key lies in how you approach such issues, not ignoring them.

But, should Obama or the government be critical of Russia's "Anti-Gay" law?

Yes.

Because America been weak in the last decade and a half on human rights.

Being critical of the mistreatment of homosexuals is a step in the right direction...

Except for those right wing extremists who support such discrimination.

I'll quote my handy, dandy Libertarian book.
Libertarians embrace the concept that all people are born with certain inherent rights. We reject the idea that a natural right can ever impose an obligation upon others to fulfill that "right." We condemn bigotry as irrational and repugnant. Government should neither deny nor abridge any individual's human right based upon sex, wealth, ethnicity, creed, age, national origin, personal habits, political preference or sexual orientation. Parents, or other guardians, have the right to raise their children according to their own standards and beliefs. This statement shall not be construed to condone child abuse or neglect.

I don't like the government being responsible for making all equal through laws and such. They should be neutral, passing no laws supporting it or against it. Let it happen naturally. Yes you can be gay and marry, yes you get the same options of a man and women marriage, just let the government stay out of this issue. One side always losses in this case, and it just widens the gap between the sides.

Russia is not the USSR and Putin isn't as soft as Gorbachiev. And I doubt Putin has any respect for Obama as the individual to take anything he has to say seriously.

But Obama is in the right in saying that, if indeed putin thinks in terms of cold war mentality (which I doubt he does), he should stop and start looking at the USA not as an enemy, but a friend. The cold war is over. And there is no more 2 superpowers in the world, there is just one. But this doesn't mean that Russia should hand over Snowden.

I doubt the "backwards" comment has to do with Russia's anti-gay law.
